and why don't you enjoy dirt as much on pc with the same controls on the same tv just with better graphics? i always thought like that, that's why i almost didn't play on pc for one decade but since i can play all these games exactly like i play my console games i have no justification anymore and prefer to play games like that with pc on my couch in front of my tv. it is exactly the same game experience just with nicer and sharper graphics. pretty nice that my tv doesn't only have to play games in 720p now and shows me why it can play 1080p material.

I just have a Xbox 360 gamepad from my cousin (wired). And When I play Dirt, GT or NFS i like to lay in my and just relax. And the graphics are not so different.

i don't see a neccessity to modify my pc for gaming. i do "play xbox, work pc". my handcrafted pc has a lot of cpu-power and 16g ram but only intel igp which is more than enough for my needs.
upgrading it to a gaming-pc would require a new power-supply and additional fans for cooling, also resulting in more power the system will use. and well, there are no games on pc that would justify the upgrade (for me).

Times could be changing again, however. According to industry analyst NPD Group, sales of video-game hardware -- a.k.a consoles -- software and even accessories fell for a sixth consecutive month in May, tumbling 28% from a year earlier to $517 million. And with the release of Blizzard's Diablo III, May also saw the first time since July 2010 that the top-selling game was a PC-only title. That boosted PC video games sales up year-over-year to 230% or $80 million.

While the top-selling games are now dominated by multi platform titles available for the consoles and PC, the shift has been increasingly away from the PC completely.

The PC gaming market is over 6 times smaller than the console market?  Wow, I didn't realize it got to THIS point.

Well the retail market in the USA vs Hardware/Software (Consoles + Handhelds) + Accessories

Or at least that is how I read it

This. And even in USA, where it's weaker, PC gaming is still the size of an average console. In regions where it's stronger, PC market is as big as several console markets put together.

% is also such an easy thing to manipulate.

One of these weeks the Vita sold 200% more in japan when persona 4 released... that translated to a measly 30k.
I really cant give much value to a rise of 200+% without comparing how much gross each market did.

Good that PC's are having a bit more of a market. In no way does it mean consoles are in trouble or that there is even a competition worth mentioning. Sales here on VGC tell us that PC games dont sell nearly in the same number the console ones do.

Even if I had the best gaming computer in the whole world I would still game on console. The idea of being hunched up all close over the desk with a keyboard and a mouse! Omg its so uncomfortable for long periods! With a controller you can lay on your ass anyway you please!

This is why even though my computer can run the Witcher 2, Battlefield 3 and Crysis on ULTRA, I still prefer my PS3 :D

Why do people keep saying this? Do you not realize PC's can do almost anything you want...heck, even connect a controller. I know, shocking!

The same reason they hate on other consoles they don't own. To feel better about their purchasing decisions.

Or they just have an absolutely mediocre PC setup and don't want to game on it with their preference of controls. :P

If you really want, you can connect your PC up to an HDTV, use a controller and sit on your couch. You still get lower prices, better graphics, more customisability, user-created mods and, in many ways, a better online system in Steam.

But get a comfortable chair, and you won't be hunched over anything. You can easily play a PC game sitting back, even with a keyboard and mouse.

And that is because of Steam. If digital game trades begin, PC gaming will go to hell again, because less and less publishers will support it.

Digital game trades won't begin anytime soon (the legislation stops Valve from cancelling your account; it doesn't force them to allow you to trade games) and if they do, they'll take place on PSN and XBL as well. And disc media is going to become less widespread on all systems, not PC. Look at the growth of PSN especially over the years; quite a few brand new games are available for download at launch, and unless I'm mistaken, every single Vita game is as well.

There's really no excuse for not knowing that you can connect your computer to a television and use a wireless keyboard and mouse. It really isn't a new development.
