Forums - PC Discussion - I'm looking for a PC real-time strategy game released between 1998 and 2002 that is similar to Cossacks: European Wars and Age of Empires 2

so with similar to age of empire do yo mean same age? if not, future or what?

I prefer games set in Age of Empires times, but it doesn't really matter.

Awesome games but they're turn based like Heroes of M&M.

A game I have been interested in for a while is Knights of Honour. This game looks to be basically Age of Empire with an empire building element to it, although I haven't actually played it so I can't say if it is actually good or not and it was released in 2004.

Red Alert 2. End quest.

BEST. GAME. EVER.

Was soooo sad when EA bought up Westwood studios and stopped supporting the online multiplayer component of the game. Fucking EA.

I really liked C&C red alert 2. Age of Mythology spent many hours on. (They killed the online though :() I will also vouch for Stronghold crusader, addicting game.

That's oddly specific.

I'm going to be a little bit more obscure here and wholeheartedly recommend Warlords Battlecry II, one of my favourite RTS from back in the day. More fantasy involved there than in AoE2, and less structure (it's a non-linear campaign, like Dark Crusade), but it's great fun.

Here's a GR link. It's in the low 80s. http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/537053-warlords-battlecry-ii/index.html

Ooh, just looked the screenshots and that looks right up my street.

Im gonna get every game mentioned in this thread (with a few exceptions) tomorrow from CEX and it's gonna cost under £15!

Rise of Nations, as mentioned; also American Conquest series (from same guys that made Cossacks)

Oh, I thought this thread was about searching for a specific game. I am disappoint.

Late 90's/early 00's RTS games are probably one of my favourite eras ever, so many incredible games:

- Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
- Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2
- Command and Conquer: Generals
- Age of Empires 2
- Age of Mythology
- Empire Earth.

All of them had really decent expansion packs too. Cor, you've convinced me to dig out my C&C: First Decade pack to play over the weekend.
