The Hardware is fantastic and the amount you pay for it is more than reasonable. The shitty sales can be attributed to a lack of software, or I should say a lack of many quality, system-selling titles. The quality is there, all you have to do is play Uncharted or Gravity Daze for a taste of what we have and what's to come, but what we need more of is system selling software.

GTA, COD, The next Uncharted, God of war, Bioshock, Monster Hunter and some new IPs are all, on there own, capable of getting hundreds of thousands of people to buy the Vita, and these titles together make for a compelling and awesome library of games, leading to millions more compelled and awe-inspired Vita owners.

I fully agree

I haven't brought one because of two reasons:

1) They still haven't released many games that really captured my attention and I wouldn't buy one only to play old PSP and PSOne games, i.e., the few ones they allow me to play.

2) The console price is fine but Sony are trying to steal me with the memory card and I don't like to be a fool and pay that much for something that should cost at least half of what they ask for.

Nah, the price is an issue it's not only about games. Most people don't look at price/hardware ratio, they mostly look at price in its absolute terms. At most they look at functionalities, but even in this case the PSV is not very usefull, since those who really wanted to web browsing/ listen to mp3 / play videos on the go, most likely have already bought a smatphone or an Mp4 player, buying another device to do that is just redundant.

I would say people look at price/game-ratio. There may be for some the one game, theey are buying the console for, but most gamers bite only, if they find three to five games. The more expensive the device is, the more games have to justify the purchase.

I really can't see the problem with the vita, it has a good hardware; a very nice line-up with a suitable price.. But I think that the "3DS" is taking the full of attention due to its price cut and biggest casual and popular games, and also people who attempt to purchase one must be waiting for the same price cut especially that the 3DS didn't took much time to cut around 40% of its price.

Vita is marketed the wrong way, b/c the fools at Sony are trying to compete against 3DS first. If they switch priorities, and compete against ipod touches, mini tablets etc, then they can succeed. To do that, Sony MUST be aggressive & include more memory, i.e. make a 16gb card default. Vita is a luxury machine that CANNOT succeed as a gaming machine 1st....it is clearly a powerhouse multimedia device 1st and foremost. This is not a device where software will push units, its the polar opposite of 3DS in that regard. Vita should be marketed as a must have portable for movies, music, net browsing etc then once you have this machine, will support it with games. Sony right now is just very uncool, they are stuck in the 90s.

IMO they should have had a PDF reader, and support other documents so that it could double as an e-reader, as well as support android apps!

The main reason they didn't do this so they wouldn't compete with their own ereaders and tablets. They're also not a strong software company which may have been a contributing factor.

With pdf support and android apps this would have been the gamers tablet to have. Why get a Ipad or Galaxy Tab, when you can get a VITA which is better for games, but with the same capabilities and is half the price. However, right now it's just a tablet with only a few games and apps.

I do think the VITA has a huge potential. It can play PSP games and soon PSone games. It may also be a place there PS2 games are ported. This means it has a hugggeee amount of games. SONY should do more to support and market this feature.

I think it is already to late for Sony to save the Vita.

The high price of the handheld, the ridiculous high price of the memory cards and the uninspired games library results in the catastrophical sales. And most third parties turned away from the Vita and canceled their Vita projects or ported it to the 3DS.

Even high profile games like the Vita-Uncharted don't get much attention or sales. Games like CoD or God of War will not change this. I repeat: It is to late for the Vita. Sony should concentrate on the PS4 now.

The E3 showed clearly that third parties doesn't care much about the Vita and even Sony seems to go on.

Explain why 250 is too expensives i never understang why a handheld shoud not be more then 250$

There is no upper limit for how expansive a console could be. Imo an handled console could potentally cost more than this.

Any price should be adequate to the offer, and the offer is not made of hardware (the hardware itself is a useless piece of silicon for the final user), the offer is made of services, and in this case the services are games and multimedia. Since the multimedia (for the reasons I said before), it's not really much usefull to most potential users, the PSV can only compete on gaming. In this case, 250$ is too expansive simply because its direct competitor is 100$ cheaper (and that's not including the memory card issue) and at the same time the gaming libary is not compelling enough (as opposed to the copetitor's) to justify the higher price.

I just think it's super hard to challenge Nintendo in the handheld arena. Nintendo makes the kind of games that, in my opinion, translate best to a handheld experience. That, coupled with their name recognition in the handheld market, make them a tough opponent to beat.

When you add in the huge amount they spent on invisible marketing, the high price point, and the memory card issue, they are in for a tough time.

yeah good thing they're not by targeting a completely different demographic who could give a shit about Nintendo's "handheld experiences"

Well, judging by the sales of the thing, they are either targeting a demographic that does not exist or the demographic they are targeting doesn't give a shit about Sony's handheld experiences, which is why their handhelds sell like shit and and have awful attach rates.

I think you completely missed my point.  Nintendo does well in the handheld market because the people who are attracted to Nintendo's first party can get those kind of experiences on a handheld device.  The kind of games that made people love N64 and Gamecube and even Wii are deliverable in that format without significantly watering down the aspects that made Nintendo's fan like them in the first place.  I don't feel like Sony's style, or the selling points of their 1st party titles to their dedicated fanbase, translate nearly as well to a handheld system.  Uncharted minus the stunning HD visuals on a big screen is just not the same thing.

yeah sales for 4 months, Sony should just give up......

psp sold 75 million consoles and had a shit attach rate due to piracy

I didn't miss your point at all

I get that Nintendo experiences are so bare bones lacking any depth whatsoever that it is extremely easy to translate them handhelds, I was simply pointing out how much Sony's market could give a shit about those games. Remember how Nintendo sole all those copies of NSMBwii.....remember how it meant fuck all to anyone not a Nintendo fan or a Nintendo fans younger sibling, yeah same thing here, no one's denying the selling power of Nintendo's franchises, we're just wondering why we should care???

and as for the Sony games not translating well to handhelds, my advice, you should probably play them first. U:GA is Uncharted without online everything else translated near perfectly, same for Wipeout, MK (which has more kontent than the konsole version), and others, sure there are some that didn't do well (resistance) but 1 amongst many is hardly an indicator of anything.
