I just think it's super hard to challenge Nintendo in the handheld arena. Nintendo makes the kind of games that, in my opinion, translate best to a handheld experience. That, coupled with their name recognition in the handheld market, make them a tough opponent to beat.

When you add in the huge amount they spent on invisible marketing, the high price point, and the memory card issue, they are in for a tough time.

they should include a memory stick like Nintendo did with 3DS by having a two gb SD card.

so i go with price to get everything

does Sony even have that many big sellers besides GT?

I think sony want to make a load off accessories like the ps2 days (multitap, 8mb memory card) They missed that profit with the ps3 and i think the ps4 might take a similar path.

yeah good thing they're not by targeting a completely different demographic who could give a shit about Nintendo's "handheld experiences"

Well, judging by the sales of the thing, they are either targeting a demographic that does not exist or the demographic they are targeting doesn't give a shit about Sony's handheld experiences, which is why their handhelds sell like shit and and have awful attach rates.

I think you completely missed my point.  Nintendo does well in the handheld market because the people who are attracted to Nintendo's first party can get those kind of experiences on a handheld device.  The kind of games that made people love N64 and Gamecube and even Wii are deliverable in that format without significantly watering down the aspects that made Nintendo's fan like them in the first place.  I don't feel like Sony's style, or the selling points of their 1st party titles to their dedicated fanbase, translate nearly as well to a handheld system.  Uncharted minus the stunning HD visuals on a big screen is just not the same thing.

This my critic for the article.
1-PSVita and games are not expensives but memory card are PSVita has a great technologie and games are at the same price as 3DS and don't tell me smartphone games are 1 this games have shit graphic and no button.

2-Not everyone one has a ps3 so i want play Uncharted and Resistance in my PSVita.

3-He say PSVita need games witch are not home console experiences but in PSP all best selling games has console experiences.

4-He want to make the illusion that the PS Vita has only Rush Gravity as a new IP Sony has annonced more then Gravity Rush they annonced:Reality Fighter,Soud Shape,Smart As,Escape Plan,Sound Shape,Unit 13,Dokuro,Broken,Dragon's Crown,Frobisher Says!,Kickbeat ,Orgarhythm,Sumioni and Soul Sacrifice and the majority play well in handheld we can add also the AR games and LBP Vita is the best exemples of a game in a serie creted in home console.

PSVita has spin off, port, new ip,smartphone like games(Playstation suite),ps1 games all what you need the only problem is the timing of release of games.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Memory cards are the problem. I want one, but I was planning on going digital with the Vita and just can't afford multiple memory cards which will cost as much as the games I'm buying.

I don't understand the library complaints to be honest. Given the amount of time the console has been out, I think it's built up a really respectable library with a full compilation of PSP games to play as well.

Seriously, Gravity Rush, Uncharted, WipEout, Unit 13 & Resistance are games I want to play. The list is only going to get longer as things like LittleBigPlanet & Soul Sacrifice come out. Not a singular 'system seller' (like Mario Kart or 2D Mario) but a list of games which make me think 'this is enough to own the system'.

I'm hoping we're going to see some Ratchet & Jak games to keep Sly Cooper company on the system, at some point in the future.

So the only problem, for me at least, is memory cards. They cost far, far too much.

The Hardware is fantastic and the amount you pay for it is more than reasonable.

Nah, the price is an issue it's not only about games. Most people don't look at price/hardware ratio, they mostly look at price in its absolute terms. At most they look at functionalities, but even in this case the PSV is not very usefull, since those who really wanted to web browsing/ listen to mp3 / play videos on the go, most likely have already bought a smatphone or an Mp4 player, buying another device to do that is just redundant.

Explain why 250 is too expensives i never understang why a handheld shoud not be more then 250$

The Hardware is fantastic and the amount you pay for it is more than reasonable. The shitty sales can be attributed to a lack of software, or I should say a lack of many quality, system-selling titles. The quality is there, all you have to do is play Uncharted or Gravity Daze for a taste of what we have and what's to come, but what we need more of is system selling software.

GTA, COD, The next Uncharted, God of war, Bioshock, Monster Hunter and some new IPs are all, on there own, capable of getting hundreds of thousands of people to buy the Vita, and these titles together make for a compelling and awesome library of games, leading to millions more compelled and awe-inspired Vita owners.

I fully agree.
