I don't had any reason to say SS is the worst Zelda i ever played.
Maybe worst is not the right word about SS it's just feel different, but i know this is Zelda games that i always love.

I quit for good at the 2nd Thunderhead battle. I had already put the game away twice before. It just wasn't very captivating for me. The empty overworld, re-use of environments, monsters and bosses, together with never really getting to grips with the motion controls killed it for me.
I didn't finish twilight princess either, instead watched someone else finish the last part. Also lost interest there.
Since OOT and Windwaker Zelda has gone downhill for me. Well actually since I played Okami. Majin and the forsaken kingdom was a better game for me then skyward sword.
My main problem with motion controls is missing a 2nd analog stick to control the camera. Not being able to look around freely hampers immersion. I should have bought twilight princess for the gc. The motion controls in that game were definitely not worth losing camera control over.
Skywards motion controls were at least mostly fun, however it still misread my motions 20% of the time after 20 hours of play. The biggest problem with the motion controls is that they are not direct but some combination of position and gesture recognition. Which made the stabbing motion the least reliable, and slashing motions often respond to my back swing / repositioning of the motion controller.
Maybe my expectations were also too high. I was hoping for sports champions gladiator duel type fights but it's nothing like that.
Snesboy
dont get mad xD
Oot is my most beloved Zelda because it was the first i played, but its obviously the weakest for being the first, although it deserves more kudos for that also...im not saying it is a bad game, i replayed it on the 3DS remastered ed. and think it holds up pretty well...it has the best music ever, it has Gannon, a great storytelling...
maybe i went too far...TP is not as good as Oot

Well that is sad because it's a really great game. It's not meant to be classic Zelda. |
With the third party that the Wii gets the pressure is always on for first party quality. To expect a classic from Nintendo with Zelda isn't asking for much when the New mario game is a cookie cutter.

Well thank goodness this is a quality game then!

Not really. I don't see the need to word the last part like that however. It's like you hate them for it, but you might just want them to win you back. I played ME 1 and 2 and finished them. Working on ME3. I just didn't pay for them. I am indifferent to whatever their current situation is.
With me, I want to like it because I'm a huge zelda fan, but I'm finding two major, MAJOR problems with the game, the first I should have expected, and the second would have made it a crappy game regardless.
My first problem was the motion controls. Yeah, I get it, Wii Motion Plus needed a game as a herald for its greatness, but come on, this is as gimmicky as Wii Sports! Balance the controller to walk a tightrope, balance it to fly your bird, flail it about to flap wings, flick it up or down to throw bombs, tilt to fly the beetle thing. it just so full of shit. All of these functions were just fine with simple button presses, adding motion controls did NOTHING to make the game more immersive, save the swordplay, which is kind of lame because the enemiees are dumb and the entire combat model revolves around figuring out which direction to slash...or just flailing about till you hit him because certain angles don't work with 100% effectiveness. Gimmicky controls are lame, and these controls do nothing to add to the game.
The second issue I have is the pathetic adherence to sidequests. Early on I encountered some pathetic tree-based lifeform that basically said "yeah, I know where zelda is, but I'm not going to tell you where she is till you help me find my tribe members." yeah, Eff that. the game is FILLED with meaningless sidequests you have to complete to continue, and it's sad. there's only like 5 dungeons in all, and the game is linear; I like linear, but it doesn't really work here.
The point is: shitty controls and stupid forced sidequests you can't avoid. both are dumb.

Agreed. The side-quests were fun but they should have been optional bonus quests, with rewards.
I also agree that motion controls were tacked on for tight-rope. But for bombs, it's the same concept as the sword. You are Link. That was the point. And why not the bird? Maybe you felt like controlling a whole bird was a bit much? I could understand that. But I actually found flying the bird fun, that's me. And I'm not bs'ing, I actually was eager to get on the bird to fly and nosedive and flap its wings and do it better. Maybe there should be an option to go on relaxed mode or something.
The tight-rope didn't work well for me at all, so I kind of agree on that one.
After beating the game for a second time, I think this game is tied in my top 10 games of all times along with OoT.
I love motion+ and they way in which everything feels so natural, cutting grass, slashing tress, aiming, navigating with the bettle everything was so easy and responsive I loved ever since I got it.
Something that I liked is that Zelda has a more active rol this time around,
The music was truly beautiful, fi's lamento, the bamboo cutting and the romance theme, simply amazing.
I also loved the story and most of the characters. Graphic-wise the game looks gorgeous too.
My only complaint: Fi has no personality (she does a bad job in comparison to midna)

Well all of those options work better with buttons, making them motion controls (mostly referring to bombs) just makes the game cumbersome, and most people (myself included) don't have a huge area to flail their arms about, making it very awkward and unpleasant to do all these controls. I don't dislike it becuase I'm lazy, I dislike it becuase I find it unpleasant. before actually PLAYING Skyward Sword, I was super hyped for the game, really looking forward to 'motion controls done right', but in the end it was just gimmicky nonsense. I'll take Twilight Princess or Wind Waker over this any day.
