There seems to be a small majority in favour of the like button so far.

It's still a bad idea Kantor. Let's keep some level of self respect and not have a like button.

Also even if it was a good idea it would never get done.

Why?

Have you noticed how long it's taken to get Graphs back? Or for this site to get its upgrade?

It would take a long time. We don't need to put anymore things on the gods of GamrConnect and VGC.

In your opinion its a bad idea Montana, so far the community is fairly split, I'd even agree having such a split helps show a trail run may be of use, then people can decide after that with their own experience of the system in use.

A like button would be distracting.

When I, for example, watch a television debate, I always find it awful to hear lots of people cheering every time their opinion is expressed. That is one reason why we don't allow it on 'official' pre-election debates on TV. It is distracting, and people tend to agree with the loudest cheering crowd out of fear that they may have the 'wrong' opinion. Like Jay said: It would give an elitist vibe.

I've been on this site for about five years now. I have been through many changes to the forum and I've seen what has and hasn't worked on various different sites. And I don't believe for a second that this is a good idea. Feel free to disagree. I stand by my opinion.

I dont think that people that wrote something and didnt get a like should be sad mad whatever

I mean it just means people didnt press the button it does NOT mean they didnt agree.

I for example dont "LIKE" any Video or something that I see on youtube etc. no matter how much i laughed or how good the video was because I dont care about the LIKES.

If I appreciate the content I share it with friends and sometimes leave a comment I never press the LIKE button,

On the other hand alot of people browse the web to just DISLIKE whatever there is no matter how good it is (thats why i find the DISLIKE and LIKE buttons on this sites NEWS section stupid so please remove the DONT AGREE/ DISLIKE / THUBS DOWN button its useless)

One reason why DISLIKE buttons are stupid is:
50% of the people that like somethine LIKE it. 90% of the people that dont like something DISLIKE it. This way all the ratings or thumbs down results whatever dont show the reality they just show how many people cared about pressing the button. So if there is something on Amazon that has 3 stars because 10 people disliked (1 star) it and 10 people liked it (5stars) IT ACTUALLY SHOULD HAVE 4 stars at least because half of the people that are actually happy with the product didnt care to press 5 STARS.

The community should get to decide whether a like button should be implemented or not, and the majority are evidently in favour. There should be a 1 month trial, and after that there should be another poll deciding whether it should be kept or not. Simples!

Incorrect.

That poll includes votes from people who don't even have an account on this site, and their opinion must not count. But even then 51% have not voted 'yes' at the moment.

Well ioi really has to ask himself two questions:

Which has a like button out of these two: Facebook or gamrConnect?

Which website is more popular: Facebook or gamrConnect?

The same logic applies to people who have voted 'no'.

If properly implemented, I wouldn't mind.
