Forums - Sony - Vita's Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified - First Info!

One good thing though is that at least, just like AssCreed3, we have a big name IP built from the ground up specifically for the PSVita.

Much better than a straight port of Blops2 right? Supposedly it plays different too if you go by the description. So while I won't touch it for $50, I still want to see how it plays.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

True with FAR higher userbases. I'm factoring in the lower appeal for the genre on portables and the lower appeal of Vita in itself so far.

Factor in the appeal of Vita to a different market than the DS. A large part of the DS userbase -- possibly a majority -- has no interest in gritty shooters. The Vita is being sold as a console for gamers who love them some gritty shooters.

For comparison's sake, the best-selling DS Call of Duty game had an attach rate of about 1.6% in NA. The PSP Call of Duty game had an attach rate of about 2.4% in NA. (Both of those games actually had quite decent legs in the US to boot.) The best-selling PS3 Call of Duty game has an attach rate of about 23.6% in the US. If you split the difference, maybe figure the game will have an attach rate on Vita around 10%, Declassified could definitely make it over 500k or even 1 mil in the long run.

Of course, part of your prediction is that the game will appeal more or less as much to Vita owners as it did to PSP owners, which is fine. But I believe its appeal will be more in line with PS3/360 owners. We'll see how it does soon.

It's sad when people get mad at anyone who says anything bad of their precious console. People bitch, moan and attack every console, get over it. Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony consoles get attacked in a daily basis, it's the forum dynamics.

I too don't understand the comparisons to PSP or DS Call of Duties. For one, PSP only had (1) nub, DS has a D-Pad and a tiny touch screen that for all intents and purposes really did need the stylus, much more so a shooter I would think.

Vita on the other hand is the first time a game like Call of Duty will function properly on a handheld.

There is no way yet to know exactly what the market size for this is. I don't see how the versions can be directly comparable.

Not much info except that it'd be expensive anyone know whos making it

Edit; oh this was a sales discussion thread could of sworn this was a sony discussion thread

I think activision will be the ones to market this game cant thrust Sony with that.Jk but if they both market this game as a Cod experience on the go then the game would receive a 300k op week with a 50k boost to the vita the same week and life time total can hit 5 mil. Of course if activision deem this game successful then we may suffer from yearly installment

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Superchunk, I'd love to make a bet with you about the lifetime sales of this. I'm shocked that anyone thinks it won't cross 500k.

I said probably not and definitely on 1m. Last time I bet on a probably, I lost lol. So, I'll stick to my definite only.

Though, keep in mind. Uncharted only has 600k so far and that is more of an exclusive experience.

Portable CoD is not going to be like stationary console CoD. It's unproven and we don't know if it will do as well.

We don't know if it will do worse either...

I LOVE ICELAND!

Uncharted will keep selling for years. 2m+ is not out of the question for it.

True and Uncharted is more suited for a portable device like Vita vs a game that has a very strong multiplayer component. Frankly, its core feature.

You're acting on a lot of assumptions though. I can do the same to spin the sales way better than they actually may turn out (some super awesome bundle or price cut). We really don't know how 'exclusive' the experience is, but we do know they keep mentioning how they're making this game to suit Vita owners. It's not a console game ported to the Vita.
