Ports are par for the course. Wii launched with, what, a pack-in minigame compilation, a delayed GC game, Red Steel, Elebits, and a bunch of ports or terrible games (or ports of terrible games)

Actually that makes Wii U's launch window better. Where the test will come in is whether Wii U's 2013 will really surpass Wii's stellar 2007 lineup.

well to not even expect ports of multiplatform titles would have been to setting the bar extremely low. SUre it's better but nintendo definitely could have pushed for more. As of now the multiplat line up of current gen consoles just flattens this one. I mean why not, bring more multiplats that are releasing this year even? I'm starting to think that second controller is the reason why devs were complaining about the development for the system.

They should have had at least ONE major 3rd party exclusive for the launch..

Isn't that Rayman or ZombiU?

Correct. Even if we are (correctly) healthily skeptical about ZombiU (i've never been a fan of zombie games myself, so i'll probably pass), Rayman Legends exclusive is a pretty big deal.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

My theory is that they decided to only show what is coming this year to the console, but i think that was a huge mistake

Well, Reggie did say some of the stuff was in the launch window so I don't know...

Did you actually watch the conference..?

Here's what you need to do. Watch Nintendo's 2006 E3 conference and compare it. End of discussion.

was it really that much better? It showed the same kind of stuff, expect the zelda and metroid, and the zelda was for the gamecube as well

Good god, of course it was better. Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Metroid, SSBB, Wii Sports...the list goes on and on.

All Nintedo needed to do was have one, just one, hardcore first party title showing the fact that the GPU in the U is at least two generations ahead of the Xenos and RSX. They didn't have a single first party title, even Pikmin 3, that was impressive in terms of eye candy. They ALL looked like Wii games.

And the third party support is shite too. Where was Madden, FIFA, Tiger Woods, Far Cry 3, Black Ops 2, Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Crysis 3..? Where were EA, Capcom, Square Enix..?

Third party titles such as Assassin's Creed 3, ZombiU, Aliens Colonial Marines and Arkham City showcased the graphical prowess and the U GamePad better than ANY of the first party titles. This E3 showing was a failure of EPIC proportions.

Okay lets all admit it. We do this EVERY year. We get overhyped, expect big then get depressed afterwards. But besides that we overlook what was announced and when you do that...

Agree? Disagree? I'd like to read your thoughts...

i won't get to watch the nintendo conference until later tonight but ...

..100% agree with you.  MS and sony had good conferences.  I'm sure nintendo's was good as well.  people have to stop judging this thing against their dreams...

I'm sure you'll enjoy, but it will definately leave you wanting more, like a good movie that stops at the good part...

no they didn't, don't play it off and I'm a nintendo fanboy to the "T" and that conference was largely crap.

Well, I learned much about the controller. I know 3rd parties are in. I saw Pikmin 3. I saw Mario Bros U. I saw Mass Effect 3. I saw Nintendo Land, Tekken, Mass Effect, Game and Wario, and more. For something that probably should have not been overhyped in the first place, I'm sitting in a comfortable position. If you "fanboys" want to call it crap go ahead, that ultimately does not change the Wii U's fate.

ZombiU, Scribblenauts and Just Dance. That makes three. OK, it's not clear if ZombiU is big, as it is a new IP, but the other two are million-seller-series. They may not the games you want, that doesn't change the fact that this are big 3rd party exclusives.

maybe because many or most nintendo programmers did never have to make a hd game with many polygons and so on^^  i have no clue how it works for all these people working with different tools and so on but i jusz can't imagine how someone who never had to make such a game can be as good as people who work on these games with the needed tools for ten years.

oh I didn't realize this. I was certain it was multi :S just looked it up..and you are right! this is pretty big as the game has a pretty good following. I kinda expect it to be a timed thing tho (the way it's worded in the PR) but this is definitely fits my condition

and no I don't think zombi can be considered 'major'..if not then you can name the platinum game too

@menemnth: scribble is multi, it's also coming to PC...and I'm sure it will hit smartphones etc too eventually

I agree with Maynard_Tool.

To me it was rather a (series of) question(s) of *Why did they show so little?,* with a follow up like *why during a small amount of time before it's launch?,* I was more curious than dissapointed.

My biggest hypothesis would be...........

Perhaps if they had unleashed EVERYTHING about the new console; sure we would've been all happy campers, but then they would have "ran of out ammo* and bam they would hit a drought of not releasing new details about the new console + new software.

You can't just go into battle, unbleashed everything; expecting to win and then you're defensless later because you've wasted all of your resoruces. They hold their own private conferences throught the remaining months as well as TGS.

Well, IMO, the key games disappointed, only Pikmin 3 and Luigi's Mansion looked good.
Also, WiiU looked very disappointing.

However, 3DS obliterated Vita.
