Forums - Sony - Sony falls to a new 30 YEAR low. Markets just dont believe them.

Wouldn't your minds be blown if MS ends up buying Sony? Just like with Nintendo and Sega... the biggest of rivals... and then one in the same. Blew everyone's minds then, I could see the same happening here. Except not anytime soon since Sony is just bleeding value right now, so no reason to pay money for them now. Plus they'd have major restructuring to do. Sony could make more selling off their businesses individually. But yeah, whether you want to call it synergy or just terrible management, they will not be existing as a company a decade from now.

Sorry, what?

Microsoft does not have nearly enough money to buy Sony, they already overlap in the key market of gaming, Sony is bleeding money at the moment, and Nintendo did not buy and has no plans to buy Sega.

My mind would only be blown because it's about as likely as Apple buying Samsung.

Sony will need to restructure and sell off quite a few of its divisions, but I'm pretty sure it will still exist a decade from now, just as a smaller company (focusing on gaming, home electronics and phones).

A Sony MS merger would definitely make me happy. By the power combined vs Nintendo? I could see some massive damage.

It's just that simple.

@ VGKing

I bought a Vita the day it came out and love it. That being said I don't ever see it "taking off" tbh. I think the console is gonna be a permanent flop.

And PS3 being Mass Market price doesn't help Sony in any way, in fact they themselves blamed the losses in the Playstation division partially due to the current price cut. Sony isn't dropping Vita or PS3 prices for at least another year.

IDK if things don't turn around, and I mean if they don't turn around quick as in the next 12 months, you honestly have to question if Sony will have the financials in place to support the launch of yet another console on a world wide scale.

Don't get me wrong though I hope that they do I'm more than ready for new consoles I'm just simply saying it makes one wonder.

Why don't you see Vita taking off?

I KNOW why the Vita is selling horribly right now. Just take a look at the upcoming games this year for Vita. All 11 of them!

You really think Sony is going to just abandon the Vita? Just wait until E3. They'll announce games for the system that people actually want to buy.

I can imagine Kowenicki bro-fisting himself everytime he reads a piece of  bad news about Sony. And he's wearing this  X BAWKS! tee-shirt.

Bad jokes aside, Sony's entire marketing department needs a revamp. They need to learn from Microsoft.

weak attempt at hiding an insult.  reported.  not taking that kind of shit from children like you any more.  31? really?

He has a point though. You seem to be one of the first to always post negative Sony news. Not really that hard these days but looking at your comment history as well it just further proves his point.

Again, no offense. Just pointing out an observation of mine.

In smartphones Sony is a cold brand and in a couple of years Sony won't be making any TVs because by then Chinese companies will have taken marketshare (Samsung is already planning to leave TVs because it's not profitable any more).

Sony's only successful division I think is gaming and I think that's Sony's chance to survive. But if Apple decides to go into gaming consoles I think Sony's days are numbered.

If Apple goes into gaming consoles, the industry will be dead.

The console industry isn't built to support yearly hardware upgrades. So this is why I think Apple won't get into it. They already have iPad/iPhone/iPod and iTunes. They don't really need to enter the console business.

If they do enter it though, and they are successful, the first to go down would be Nintendo. Sony has other divisions besides video games that it can rely on, Nintendo doesn't.

That would work also. I am not a big fan of google. I think they will be having massive problems with with all the personal data they have on people. It seems to come up from time to time and i think they will get worse their business model depends on it doesn't it? MS is just the right amount of "bad" in a big corporation for me. Does sony have an android tablet or was theirs their own os?

Almost all of their new products are android.

Tablet, phone, etc.

Sony and Google have a lot of partnerships together.

you mean two of their product lines are...

and their laptops and netbooks and new ultrabooks are all windows....

and even more products they make are nothing to do woith Google or MS...

google are far more likely to partner up with samsung or HTC

It's 4 actually and growing.

GoogleTV, phone line (12 android phones this year), tablet, walkman.

The last sentence I can't answer because I don't know where you came up with that. Are you saying google would partner up with samsung to make a games system? Not sure I understand the reasoning there.

The Vita conglomerating all of the mistakes made with the PS3 and PSP demonstrates that Sony is still headed in the wrong direction with their products. Now is not a good time to buy Sony stock at all.

Umm. No. That would just backfire and besides, it would never happen.
