I don't know. One of the things I love about the Zelda franchise is that you never know where the next title will take you. After completing Majora's Mask I could never have guessed that the next console title would be based in a time when a vast ocean flows over what used to be Hyrule. It's that great mystery of what's to come that makes me so excited for the next entry in the series :D.

This is exactly what Skyward Sword is O.o

No, it's not. The dungeons use the same flawed formula, they are mostly linear and heavily focused on puzzles instead of fighting bad guys. Towards the end the game even tries its best to serve you anything but a dungeon.

The RPG elements are bad, because you aren't really fighting much. The sword cannot be upgraded by the player, it's all done through story progression. The upgrades you can buy for the slingshot and bow are basically worthless, because you hardly, if ever, need them. Shield upgrades? Not much of a reason to bother either, because the enemies aren't particularly aggressive.

When the Zelda series started, getting a better sword was a glorious moment. Purchasing equipment and finding heart containers was also a great experience, because you instantly recognized the value of these things. In modern Zelda games it doesn't really make a difference and worse, in the last three console games (TWW, TP, SS) you can't even find a better sword.

Doesn't change the fact that the dungeons are dungeons and the RPG elements are RPG elements.  You can talk to people, you level up after each boss.  Now if you say they should do it better then yes you are correct.   That last bolded point, thinking back on it, Skyward Sword does that the most.  Upgrading each weapon you have and other items havn't been done to the degree that Skyward Sword does it.  I think you can even upgrade your sword (Can't remember for the life of me, it's been a few months).  I personally disagree with you though, Skyward sword takes the core of what Zelda does and pushes it to the extreme, you can't go back to older ideas because Skyward Sword is nothing but old ideas.  Combat has never been the fore front of Zelda games until Twilight Princess, and even then they took it to the next level with Skyward Sword (Enemies  parrying you, having to strategize on how to strike your blows, etc).  All Zelda dungeons are linear, the only time I found them non-linear was when you'd fall down a few floors down and have to climb back up. Hell the dungeons in Zelda have always been about locking  you in an area until you found a key or you got the dungeon's weapon to get to the next area.  I don't think there has ever been an instance when your hand hasn't been guided through a dungeon (Getting to a dungeon on the other hand).  You say RPG elements and leveling up, but except for sword upgrades (Which are never needed), there aren't any in Zelda, atleast not any different than what Skyward Sword does, and not nearly as much (Different tunics, shields, hook shot,  and more MP is all I can think of.  Zelda 2 actually had a level system though).  So I guess I question you this Rol, what's Skyward Sword missing from previous Zelda games but different swords? (Which by the way your sword gets upgraded from the Goddess Sword to the Master Sword, much in the same way as a Link to the Past).

Wind Waker was a beautiful game. I would like the next Zelda to offer much more options to the player, as well as difficulty modes.

For example, I would like to have the option to play with either traditional controls or motion controls for link's sword. I would also like to be able to turn off the constant tutorials and item detail popups.

As an aside, I would also like to have an action mode where you can make link jump, kind of like an Adventures of Link but a side-mode of the next 3D entry.

A reboot of Zelda 2 would also make my day, at a more affordable price (it is 2D after all).

Also, I would like the grandiose vision of Skyward Sword to remain, minus all the flaws.

A Zelda 1 reboot would also be very appreciated. The whimsical nature of that game is a diamond in the rough, hopefully they can recreate it.

There is more hand-holding now, and no veteran gamer enjoys that. Even worse, there was much less hand holding when video games were still in their infancy (NES). Nintendo needs to get back to their roots and up the challenge, if not at least give difficulty options to the players.

3DS
- Majoras Mask
- Link to the past

Wii U
- New Zelda HD

I don't expecting new Zelda this year. But it would be nice if there is Zelda HD as a launching title.

I believe that Zelda should continue in both 2D and 3D.

I remember reading an interview with Miyamoto in a gaming magazine shortly after Ocarina had finished development. While he was very proud of what they had accomplished with the game and its immense amount of content, one statement he made always sticks in my mind: That it was still missing something that "makes Zelda a game of Zelda". I have to agree; there is a certain definitive quality that the original Zelda and A Link to the Past possess that the 3D Zelda games just cannot capture, just like when comparing 2D Mario to 3D Mario. This is why I believe that Zelda should definitely make a return to its roots that made the original game so refreshing and challenging.

Having said that, there's no denying the excellence of games like Ocarina and Majora's Mask either, which proves that the existence of 3D Zelda, albeit different, is also heavily warranted. However, while I did enjoy Skyward Sword, I don't believe it's the answer going forward for 3D Zelda. Nintendo needs to rethink the structure for the next 3D game, but I believe it can be done successfully.

This is why I am of the opinion that both game types must live on.

A new Zelda for the Wii U.

Bring back dual analog control as an option. I want control of the camera again so I can look up and down without having to go to first person mode and don't have to spam the center camera button all the time.
Make it feel like an epic adventure again with long journeys and multiple towns. Not a single hub you keep jumping back to, that makes it feel small.

Other then that, surprise me. Don't make it too predictable, keep me guessing. Put in some neat things with the wiiU controller. Switching back to the wii remote is fine too for certain sections. Just let me control the camera while exploring.

honestly i'm in the "nintendo knows best" boat. I have yet to not enjoy a LOZ game. Are their ever little things i'd like changed? yeah, but until i work for nintendo as a lead designer, producer, or director, i think i'll just stay pleasantly surprised with all that is good in zelda. Epic journeys, an engrossing story and a solid time tested battle system. One of my favorite things isn't how fresh each zelda is, but how reliable it is. I know it's not going to dissapoint me like alot of franchises have in the past. I've mentioned this on other posts, but to recapitulate; i never feel grabbed into a zelda game right away and, in fact, i always start the game feeling pretty skeptical, It always takes me a while to get into it. But, by the time it's over it, without fail, becomes my newest favorite single player game of all time. In the single player category, for me, simply no game can compete with a main entry title from the legend of zelda series.
*multiplayer on the other hand? starcraft and possibly starhawk may just never be replaced.
