I believe that Zelda should continue in both 2D and 3D.

I remember reading an interview with Miyamoto in a gaming magazine shortly after Ocarina had finished development. While he was very proud of what they had accomplished with the game and its immense amount of content, one statement he made always sticks in my mind: That it was still missing something that "makes Zelda a game of Zelda". I have to agree; there is a certain definitive quality that the original Zelda and A Link to the Past possess that the 3D Zelda games just cannot capture, just like when comparing 2D Mario to 3D Mario. This is why I believe that Zelda should definitely make a return to its roots that made the original game so refreshing and challenging.

Having said that, there's no denying the excellence of games like Ocarina and Majora's Mask either, which proves that the existence of 3D Zelda, albeit different, is also heavily warranted. However, while I did enjoy Skyward Sword, I don't believe it's the answer going forward for 3D Zelda. Nintendo needs to rethink the structure for the next 3D game, but I believe it can be done successfully.

This is why I am of the opinion that both game types must live on.
