little big plant kart and now this

If you are implying that LittleBigPlanet Karting is a Mario Kart rip-off, I hate to inform you that you are mistaken. LittleBigPlanet Karting is ripping-off Modnation Racers which is a rip-off or Mario Kart.

Get it right!

NO!

Little BigKarting is a rip off of ModNation Racers which is a not so worthy rip off of Crash Team Racing which is a VASTLY SUPERIOR rip off of Mario Kart 64

One of the most naive arguments that keeps popping up is that Sony does not have enough memorable characters to make the game worthwhile. Do these people stop to realize that one of the things that makes Smash Bros. so great is its ability to make popular characters from Nintendo's more obscure franchises?

I had no idea who the hell Captain Falcon was before the original Smash Bros. How many people knew who Roy, Ike, or Marth was before they came to Smash Bros. What about Ness? Does anyone actually view the Ice Climbers or Mr. Game & Watch as iconic? No but we know about them now because of Smash Bros. Hell Brawl including Pit helped resurrect the Kid Icarus franchise.

But at the same time you have Mario, Link, Pikachu, Samus, Kirby and others who are truly famous characters in their own right. I think a roster consisting almost entirely of obscure characters would not have had the same strength.

yea and those characters appeal to nintendo fans because they grew up with them

and it's the same with how Sony characters will appeal to Sony fans because they grew up with them

as a PlayStation/Nintendo fan i can say that Sony's characters appeal to me just as much as mario and all of Nintendo's characters appeal to me

but i see that you said strength so im guessing you are saying that it wont sell the same amount as BRAWL and im sure everybody will agree that this game wont hit the same numbers as brawl especially since this is the 1st game in the series

and its not like Super Smash bros 64 sold like Brawl when it debuted so you need to give the series some time

Sony doesn't have mascots in the same way Nintendo does. Some of the strongest Sony mascots were lost early on (Crash/Spyro) and there hasn't really been any great mascot of the brand since - I guess Kratos would be the closest thing.

People don't realize that Smash Bros. is actually a "copy" of Outfoxie. And not only that, why is it that when every other company did this, it wasn't a big deal. But when Sony FINALLY makes their own melee brawler (like fans have been asking for btw), it all of a sudden becomes a big issue.

I don't have any displeasure of their announcement. I more so have displeasure of the "gaming media" and the so called fans

yea if a company like MS announced a Karting game with Blix the cat or a SSB type brawler, YOU WOULDNT HERE A SOUL complaining that they ripped off anyone lol

That's not a fair comparison:

1 - That rain made everything grey and uglier!

2 - Animal Crossing makes everything better, by default

I would say Sackboy is that image if anything and yea it fucking sucks that Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon aren't with Sony anymore but that doesn't mean that they aren't in the game

they said that there are 3rd party characters in this and i know DAMN WELL that Crash and Spyro had to be the 1st characters they went out and got before anything lol

Why does any of this even matter? It's a game that allows characters from a bunch of different Sony games to be to crap out of each other. What's not to get excited about?

I actually laughed when I saw the footage because of the similarity to Smash Bros. I didn't think they would do it, but It was what was expected I guess. I hope it turns out well.

Really? over 150 replies about people 'expressing their displeasure' (Read: Whining) about a game that is very similar to another game in spite of the fact that people have been begging for it for more than a decade?

Come on, really? Ever since the first Pokemon game came out, I've seen threads and entire message boards dedicated to stuff like "what if we had a game like Super smash Brothers with all 150 pokemon!" (it was a long time ago), or "What if we had a smash brothers game with final fantasy characters", or the most recent and most popular "sony version smash brothers" enthusiasm? for years we gamers begged for it, and we got it...but now that you actually see it, it's a lot of whining about how it's too similar to it's inspiration?

Come on, really guys? This is whiny selfish entitlement on a whole new level.

I'm really not sure people entirely understand how the industry works. Sometimes you think up a new idea, but like 99% of all games basically amount to "okay, here's an idea...how can we make it our own?" books, movies, Television, and games have been doing that as long as there's been entertainment to be had.

What makes this even more inane is that other games have come out just like this: take Jump Super Stars or whatever it's called. the brawl fighter is a subgenre, you can't complain about this being too similar any more than you can complain about Killzone looking too gritty and realistic like Call of Duty, or how Virtua Fighter looks an awful lot like Tekken when you look at it. Games within a same genre are likely to look and feel similar, that's just how it works.

I just....
