So, here I am, downloading L.A. Noire, Darksiders, and both Dragon Ages for 20 bucks (sale on downloadable games on amazon.com at the moment, by the way) when I came to the realization that my PC has become my number one gaming console (and not just because of how cheap the games are.)

That's kind of a strange thought for me, as I've always been more of a console gamer.

Why is this?

First off, growing up, it seems like I always wa gaming this way:

Home Consoles:  Platformers, Sports games, Fighting Games, and JRPGS

PC: Adventure Games, FPS, RTS, and Western RPGS.

So, with Western games becoming more important and Eastern games less so, I guess it makes sense that I would start playing my PC more.  Another big reason is customization and graphical capabilities.   I won't play Skyrim on a 360, because I can't manipulate my hud and use all of the mods and downloads that I have - and it also looks decidedly worse.

Last, and this may sound weird, but the fact that I can use an X-box  360 controller (the best controller for navigating 3D space, in my opinion, the SNES pad will forever and always be my favorite for 2D games) and just plug it in and play for most games is awesome.  If I have to press 'B' in a  tutorial, I just hit 'B'.  That may be a little stupid but it makes me a happy gamer.

Not sure why I posted this, just wondering if anyone felt the same way.  I think the only console I really play anymore is my 3DS, unless I have friends over or someone wants to play something online.

PC is superior. I was always a PC gamer first and foremost but in this gen I switched to PS3 because I got lazy. On PS3 you just plug and play while on PC you constantly have to install stuff and solve driver problems.

But for the really graphics intensive games like Witcher 2 and Skyrim (modded) I will use a PC.

This. PC gaming is just better than console gaming in every way to me. I can use my 360 controller to play action games/platformers/more casual rpgs/fighting games, I can use a steering wheel to play racing games, and my keyboard/mouse to play fps/rts/and menu intense rpgs.

Steam is a better service than PSN, and a better gaming service than XBL. And assembling a decent computer is quite cheap. The parts for my computer cost me $300. Windows 7 cost me $100. Payed slightly more than a current hd console and while my computer can't max out battlefield 3, it can play every game in a similar quality as hd console games. Not to mention the fact that I can also use this PC for school and work.

The only thing I would miss if I became a pc only gamer is nintendo games, halo, and sony move.

I must mention one thing though, while when I first made my pc a year ago, I would have said PC version of games are much much cheaper then on consoles, that trend is changing now. You can get very good console games for 5-10$ if you wait for a good deal. And considering they are physical copies not tied to your steam or amazon account, I would say thats a better deal then buying the downloadable game for 5bucks on steam.

I use the PC about the same amount I did last generation.

I feel pretty much like you do. Dragon Age Origins, FallOut 3 and Mass Effect Trilogy have been awesome experiences on my PC and until 2010 I had never been much of a player.
I don't like the overpriced X360 controller though so I run a generic one (that gives me lots of headaches!!).

I've spend my time mostly playing PC games as well. I see myself buying Wii-U for IP's.

I think PC and Nintendo console are the perfect combo. I have PC for graphic intensive games (most free online games), and Nintendo for fun gameplay elements (especially when I bring my gf in my house I always use Nintendo console).

Playing your PC and Nintendo console on your 50 inch LCD is priceless.

I mostly use it for emulators and a few games but I still prefer my PS3 because it has a lot more games that I like. I'd probably be a PC gamer if all my PS3 games were also on PC :P

I've always been primarily a PC gamer, console second.

This gen hasn't been that different. I can tell the generation is comming to an end though as I find myself playing on PC far more than normal (although I've yet to complete Xenoblade). My PS3 is predominantly used for movies and TV shows at the moment.

What kinds of games you play on ur PS3? or anyone?

Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo,.....

In fact this gen i turned to be more a console gamer than a pc gamer
