12 years a slave, great movie, good score, beautifully shot, great acting, 9/10.
The only downsides were Sherlock Holmes and worse Brad Pitt. Sure their acting was fine but it still breaks immersion to see such familiar faces. The documentary on the blu-ray with passages of the book was a good watch as well. The Oscars got it right this year, what a difference with Argo.

I have yet to see a hobbit movie. I figured I would get the director's cut trilogy instead of double dipping as usual. However from what I've heard an extended cut might be the opposite of what it needs.

The blu-ray version of Mononoke (Hong Kong int edition) finally arrived in the mail! It was worth the wait. Awesome picture quality with a lot more visible detail, no more compression artifacts, much better color balance and black level. The 3D scenes truly look 3D now. No more layers interfering with each other due to mpeg2 compression. I was scanning every scene like it was new. The sound got a very nice upgrade too. 10/10

The only downside is in the lack of extras. There is one extra: a storyboard version of the entire movie. No commentary, just story board drawings with the movie sound. Why would you watch that for over 2 hours.

The great Gatsby 7/10.

Looks great apart from some gimmicky 3D effects, fake CGI and DiCaprio looking like Tintin. The movie starts with great energy, fun music and awesome visuals, but suffers the same problem as Moulin Rouge. The second half loses a lot of steam and the simple plot starts to drag on. I guess that's why they called it a novella in the extras, not enough material for 2 hours.

The great beauty (La grande bellezza) 8.5/10
Funny, mesmerizing, surprising, sometimes hard to follow but always beautiful to look at, interesting conversations, great musical score. Yet I still think french sounds nicer than italian.

Watched Rush and Anchorman 2 today both very good movies both are about a 8/10. Rush could have used some more racing scenes three of the races of the 1976 season didn't even get mentioned and Anchorman 2 got pretty weird towards the end but overall was still very funny.

^ We get Naked and afraid: uncensored now. No clue what the uncensored is about, maybe they curse now and then? Dangly body parts are still blurred out.

Grimm is descending further into b movie territory, it's so bad it still keeps you watching.
Continuum continues to be entertaining as well, although every outcome looks miserable.
And I've been watching Dangerous flights, ferry flying small planes across the world, cool job.
