It's about design philosophy, not the innovation of the product. It's a design award.

While I agree with you, I don't think the award has any credibility to begin with. Nintendo fans just stop, this isn't even a big enough deal to say anything negative about. 

There's very little to no innovation in the industry, so I don't know why this word gets tossed around a lot.

Doesn't change the fact that the bolded statements are correct. Besides, I was being rather generous with my statement. The fact is Nintendo showed great innovation with those products, even when looking at the technology industry as a whole. It'd be ridiculous of you to argue otherwise.

to say that in terms of technology that nintendo was the first to market or even popularise clamshell designs, touchscreens or motion control is nonsense... which is what i bolded
