The Wii, DS, and the upcoming Wii U should all win the awards. The DS was the first to market Touch screens and it also had that all new clamshell design with two screens, the Wii was the first to market motion control and is the most succesful, the Wii U's controller conept is very intriguing and can be used in compliment with the games on the big screen.

I see nothing wrong with what he said, he's talking about bringing those things to gaming/the mainstream gaming audience. 100% correct

the awards in question aren't secluded to gaming but technology as a whole...

Doesn't change the fact that the bolded statements are correct. Besides, I was being rather generous with my statement. The fact is Nintendo showed great innovation with those products, even when looking at the technology industry as a whole. It'd be ridiculous of you to argue otherwise.

Innovation =/= popularization

Go back too bed granny!

OT: oh ok, nice I guess :P

this is what he said

"The DS was the first to market Touch screens and it also had that all new clamshell design"

"the Wii was the first to market motion control"

in the broad sense of technology without using specific criteria to make it appear like if a certain company can be creditted with creating everything its clear thats nonsense

those three features were in use commonly before gaming and thats what this award is related to, gaming and technology beyond gaming

Regardless of the wording, my point remains valid.

Besides, I see no one here claiming that they created these technologies.

well if you are going to find the ds innovative because of clamshell design, touchscreens etc when there're already pdas, laptops etc alongside it that have had those same features before it, from my perspective you aren't going to have a point there, but thats me

Okay, the PSVita's OLED screen, touch screen, two analouge sticks, and face buttons have all been done before. You don't have a point there, but maybe thats just me?

I'm done here, good bye.

Well then why didn't the PSP win this too? They look the same...

My god that was a lame attack on the system. Have you even held a Vita in your hand?

OT: Well deserved. Its a marvle of a machine Now lets hope that it will get even more quality software

How was that an attack? He just said PSP should have gotten an award as well as they really do look the same. Don’t you see he pitied the PSP?

Yes DS and 3DS do too

Sony fans are so defensive… >_>

yeah i guess thats why there're more replies from nintendo fans in this sony topic

What an unnecessarily provocative generalization. You could have easily restricted your claim to those in this thread.

Haha, can't have a thread about Sony doing well without somebody trying to ruin the party.

Here's again what I posted above:
http://en.red-dot.org/2866.html?&cHash=4134714ddeb0d91c666f0802ffa4e081&company=743
The PSP Go won this award as well, two years ago.

Here's all other products from Sony which won the awards over the years:
http://en.red-dot.org/2866.html?&cHash=b0968b0ec7993ad8b231490e7d0bdfc7&company=751

Even Microsoft one a few of them over the years:

Unsuprisingly many Apple products won got the award as well over the years:
http://en.red-dot.org/2866.html?&cHash=d8c0af4f8faac1df53880e8763ddd441&company=3413

It seems no Nintendo product won the award up to now. I think the Wii design should have deserved one, but that's just me.

PS2 did it before Wii. youtube it. and there were other products before PS2 that did motion controles. you're going to have to do better then that.

this stuff has all been repeated before.

i'm sure somebody did touch screen pads other then apple with analog included. don't make me research it. remote play can be done on PSP.

I already stated that they were't the first to use them, and that they are innovations to the gaming industry. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing here

You missed the part where I said it was the most succesful.
