Forums - General - China Is Hoarding Minerals Used for Smartphones and iPads, Obama Warns

Funny how the US have to always stick to the rules. Why don't we just hoard our rear natural resources and see how the world feels about that.
1 planet means we have to and must share natural resources. For example the US can have natural rear resources that China cannot obtain from their land, so how else can China get the rear resource? Only if the US plays fair.

No, vast quantities of just about every resource imaginable. Including water, which some countries (including China) will become desperate for in the medium future.

I don't see how it wasn't relevant to what I was saying. Perhaps you think the better strategy would be to hop across the small part of ocean between Taiwan and China? Or travel from the Phillipines to invade China? I personally think it would be wiser to adopt Germany's strategy and invade through another country, in this case, North Korea down through Manchuria into Beijing. Only trouble would be pushing through the world's most heavily guarded border. :/

man, peope REALLY REALLY seem to forget and/or ignore how powerful the US armed forces really are.

Yes China has 10x the man-power, but this is 2012. There isn't a single country that can even remotely compete with the US armed forces due to its sheer technological advancements over the rest of the world.

To put this into perspective, the USA had Nukes in the 1940's. China did'nt develop nukes until 1964.

if a war between China and the US did break out...

1.) It would turn into the next World War.

2.) it would be devestating

3.) it would be remarkably difficult for invaders the invade the USA. (It would HAVE to be done via the AIR as the American coastlines (even outside the USA) are to well protected. china would have to launch every ship in its fleet to the coast of a south American country without the US discovering them (by shooting out all allied controlled satellites), march/fly a thousand+ miles to the USA border while fighting other nations for a naval invasion to work. And that would leave China's mainland completely defenseless.

That's not even taking into account the hate the governments of other powerful ally countries have for communist China. Its logistically impossible for China to win a major war against a major power. Particularly the USA.

You forgot how much in debt the US is in.

And to whom.

The Federal Reserve?

If you're talking about China, 6.9% of the US Governmental debt is held by the Chinese.

Completely flew over your head didn't it, I was making an obviously poor joke about the fact its spelt rare not rear.

it's true that it sucks for europe, usa and so on but you know what? just imagine usa would be the only country on this planet with oil. would usa really give all of us this oil? hmmm let's think abo.......no. ok maybe they would with oil but not with those things china has. usa would think it's perfect for the own industry.

it's always the same. for example here in germany they often say "in china they destroy the rivers and blabla". yes this is right but we did the same with our rivers for bigger ships. so we did it and don't have to do it anymore (ohh wait, this year we started to destroy the "elbe" even more than we did last decades becaue it's still not deep enough) if they do it in china everyone is like "assholes", lol

if we just look at the average european or chinese, the chinese don't waste as much energy as we do on average but we try to forbid them to do it like we do? if we really want china not doing what we do since decades we have to stop it here.

if i would be a chinese and an european or north american would say me i should stop using so much energy i would think "wtf serious? i don't even use half of the energy"

Stick to the rules? How many illegal wars in the past fifty-sixty years? What about the Carter-doctrine that Bush Jr. reinstated that basically says that if the US is about to run out of oil or other resources, they'll just go out and take it from whereever? Prisoner abuse? Refusing to follow UN regulations and humanitary laws? Unwarranted sanctions and embargo's? Supporting Israel in all and everything, giving them means to perform illegal operations and break international laws? Managing their debts to the world bank? Scrounging and stealing every last bit of worthwhile resources in South America? Terrorizing Native Americans and stowing them in preservations? Bombing entire countries into oblivion and demanding that NATO countries help clean up and pay the bill? Selling oil to both European allies and Axis forces at once during WWII? IBM's rise to power and wealth through nazi trade in stamping machines and technology? Countless athletes being caught for use of performance enhancing drugs?

I could go on. Don't tell me about how the US "follows the rules" any more than other countries. I'm not saying its better or worse than anyone but the US is hardly known for "playing fair".

PS: Don't flame me too bad. I just get sick of people claiming that all other nations are so bad and selfish and that all the US does is give and give and care about others. That is clearly not the case. Is China a fucked up country? No doubt, but the main thing setting them apart from the West is that they're blatantly obvious about it.

Heheheheee

Yay!!!
