I don't think PSP has the selling power of PS2. But, the PSP is not competing against Vita like Wii/Wii U and 3DS/DS, so there really is no point in discontinuing it.

 

Unless I'm missing something, of course.

So Vita in theory shouldn't render the PSP obsolete. I think I see what you're saying.

Yes, you miss the Gamecube-support of older Wii-models. I don't think that this is important for many people though.

Yes, you miss the Gamecube-support of older Wii-models. I don't think that this is important for many people though.


Haha, yeah. Most (by far) people who bought Wii never owned a Gamecube in the first place anyway :P

In ten years, the Vita will be nothing but an urban legend and a faded memory. Ten years?! In today's insanely competitive handheld market that is slowly shifting over to phones and tablets?! No way.

They're discontinuing the PSP at the local GameStop. They're still selling GameCube games. That's how successful the PSP was here in the states.

PSP will continue to be sold as long as its profitable for Sony and retailers are buying them. It has a good sized back catalog and may continue to get some new content from PSN or big multiplat games. Maybe another year or two max.

Vita on the other hand won't last 5 years, let alone 10... unless it quickly and drastically reduces price to be a companion to other media devices already in consumers pockets OR morphs into my smartphone idea already well documented.
