It's Japan and Dragon Quest. A 50k one-week boost, perhaps, but kicking Wii's near-dead Japan sales back up to something resembling an acceptable level for the latter period of the year. 100 mil is quite close, after all.

i can remember when people were prediciting like 150m, some even 200m for the wii and now it may not even get to 100m.
some people predicted the wii would outsell the entire playstation family put together..
anyhow, it should hit 100M and it may likely surpass the PS one

That was back when we thought developers would support the most sucessful console on the market. Now we know better.
To be honest with you, the Wii will reach 100 million. That is a definitive, it is only a matter of time. The Wii will get a price cut once the Wii U is released. Just like Sony did once PS3 came in for the PS2. In the end, I think 105-110 million Wii hardware sale in its lifetime. The Wii still outpaced Xbox 360 and PS3, and to this day sales of Wii stands at 96 million, and the XBOX 360 67 million and PS3 65 million. The clear winner is Nintendo....
It will be in the same neighborhood as the PS1.

Yup. The Wii will pass 100 mil. Once they lower the price, even with new hardware, it will continue to sell. Look at how long the PS2 sold after the release of the PS3. The PS2 is still selling well in some countries where the PS3 has not been released yet, since the price they would sell it for is too much for consumers.
It will easily hit a million. Once it hits $99 it's going to be an easy Christmas gift for many parents. This alone should make it have a pretty decent holiday season.
