No, that would be the only thing worthwhile from Square Enix as a whole since 2006.

I would whole-heartily agree with this, except I don't know how much longer hand held devices like the 3DS and Vita are going to survive. Smartphones are good at everything, the 3DS and Vita are only really good at gaming (and admittedly better at gaming).
When I have to choose what to lug around, I'm going to choose the device that fits better in my pocket and does more.
I would love to have a 3DS for $150 and the Vita does look pretty damn cool, but when I think about how much I would be playing them versus playing on my iPhone, I just can't justify getting one. Especially when the games for my iPhone are generally at most 1/10 the cost.
Meh, even back in 2006 people were already saying that it was short of impossible for S-E to do a full remake of FFVII for the PS3, although that didn't stop all the conjectures and wishful thinking xD.
Ah well, for as "bad" as their run on home consoles has been this gen, their handheld run on the other hand has been brilliant. The universe balances itself

The way Final Fantasy is going, this will never happen.
Regardless of 'where it's going', FF was always a showcase for the console, and the real 'Must-Buy' game for the year. So, I doubt we'll see it move over.
Then again, Dragon Quest did, but...that was different. If Sony or Nintendo lay down enough money for it, it may move over, but I doubt it.
(So long as they stick to dedicated consoles, of course).
Its true FF always been the top dog of the JPRG but development cost and time its getting out of hand I would prefer a not so beautiful FF on portables every 2 years than waiting 4 for a game that could bankrupt the company if it flops.

Top Dog of JRPG?...that would be a bit of a stretch now would it.
In terms of popularity, it struck it's height only after FFVII and it has never since reached that popularity level, and that was only on the west. On Japan there isn't a single FF that holds a candle in terms of popularity (and quality) to the Dragon Quest games.
And that's not talking about the Pokemon games, which are in a whole different galaxy xD.
