I would whole-heartily agree with this, except I don't know how much longer hand held devices like the 3DS and Vita are going to survive. Smartphones are good at everything, the 3DS and Vita are only really good at gaming (and admittedly better at gaming).
When I have to choose what to lug around, I'm going to choose the device that fits better in my pocket and does more.
I would love to have a 3DS for $150 and the Vita does look pretty damn cool, but when I think about how much I would be playing them versus playing on my iPhone, I just can't justify getting one. Especially when the games for my iPhone are generally at most 1/10 the cost.
