Forums - Sony - Monster Hunter Vita in a "few months"

You totally quoted me out of context... But I wasn't being clear maybe. I'll try again.

I was trying to explain that he can't argue the following:

"Nintendo couldn't have achieved 90M+ on their own without the 3rd party Just Dance periods of 2010 and 2011"

Reason he can't argue that: Nintendo wasn't in the game (making evergreen casual-oriented Wii titles) to begin with as of 2010 , to the upsetting of some Nintendo fans.

I would argue that it's impressive that 3rd parties managed to achieve it on their own, but I believe Nintendo could've achived 130M+ had they continued to support the console, with the help of 3rd parties giving background content. Try to see what I mean.

And maybe even, they could have reached 90M+ without 3rd parties, had they kept the momentum going. No proof, just hypothesis with predictions given the 2008 to 2009 track record.

Oh, that makes more sense. Sorry about the poor quoting.

Oh come on Carl, everyone knows that people only care about Mario, that is why it sells 25M copies.

Who cares if Wii has ~90M consoles out there and apparently 65M people didn't give a damn about Mario.

Why not use MK that sold 30+M and say 60m Wii owners don’t care about Mario?
I still need to buy MK on Wii which means not everybody buys every game with Mario in the name so you could easily spread the different franchises over the 90m+

I said they only need Mario and all will be well not that they would sell 90m+

You don’t seriously believe that Wii sold 90m+ because of 3rd parties now do you? As dolphin said they don’t need them as the other two do

You know your 100% full of it right? If your assumption is correct then what happened to the N64 and Gamecube? Obviously they were missing the 3rd parties then.

I also didn't mention Mario Kart because I didn't need to. My point was that those games alone did not sell all 94M consoles. You really think that 30M bought MKWii and a seperate 25M bought New Super Mario Bros. Wii? I bet there is a large amount of overlapping in those sales, not to mention one of the two is still bundled, just like it has for over a year now. Or does it now come bundled with NSMBWii?

Now, Nintendo makes a music game and it does decent because of the "Wii" in the title, but I don't see it having a future. Yes, I am talking about Wii Music.

Now look at those useless 3rd parties and games like Just Dance which has fueled the Wii for how many holiday seasons? Want to bet that Zumba Fitness and Just Dance 3 made more of a dent this holiday than Zelda? I bet you don't.

Anyways, if you want to go with this generation, yes, you can make the argument that Nintendo didn't really need the 3rd party devs, but don't go acting as if that is always the case, because history proves that to not be true and there is no guarantee that next gen will treat Nintendo so kindly without 3rd party support. For all you know their own titles might not be enough and without 3rd party support the Wii U might suffers a simliar fate to the N64 or GCN.

Just do yourself a favor and stop acting like 3rd parties means nothing because if you haven't noticed it is thanks to 3rd parties than Wii is dying and PS360 are thriving.

With some good 3rd party support we might not be talking about Wii U just yet.

3rd parties is also why Wii will probably never catch PS2, even though it was posting record shattering numbers early on.

Believe it or not, Nintendo can only do so much on their own. They do need 3rd parties. I know, others know it and going by Nintendo's own line of thought lately, they too know that they need them.

So the Wii is not selling because there is no 3rd party games and not because there are no more Nintendo games?

I’m sure there are more 3rd party games releasing now than there are Nintendo games yet it is not selling that well but we ignore that because 3rd parties is what made Wii a success

I said release Mario and all will be well well that is what has been proven on Wii, DS and 3DS at least

3rd parities did have a role in it but not the role they have for MS and Sony

@Rol
Well I didn't even know Nintendo was getting exclusive rights in the first place, thats what I was asking. Nintendo u bastards! Actually I guess I should be mad at Capcom as well. This would've been a major force for the vita. Curse the heavens!

you know, the first thing that came to mind when reading the OP for me was how during E3, they were talking about Smash Bros on 3DS that was not in dev yet. In short, guilty before proven innocent in this case. If it's just some more portable shit, then nobody will miss it since the hit detection system in Tri is much more superior on top of the water hunting. The really fucked up part is Tri-G looks better than Tri because the game actually has dynamic shadows, not to mention more monsters to hunt.

edit: forgot to mention, the animation in Tri is super smooth =)

Let's wait and see what it is.

Make an educated purchase bud. If you have a PSP, this may be a port. Instead of jumping the gun, wait to get more details. :S I know why I'm getting a Vita, but to say day 1 purchase on a MH game we know barely anything about is a little silly in my humble opinion.

It is a mixture of both, but because Nintendo has to allocate resources to the 3DS and Wii U it leaves them vulnerable on the software front due to less than adequete 3rd party support. If they had stronger 3rd party support they wouldn't have to worry so much when the software on their end dries up a bit.

I’m sure there are more 3rd party games releasing now than there are Nintendo games yet it is not selling that well but we ignore that because 3rd parties is what made Wii a success

Oh yeah, please, point me to the strong 3rd party software they have coming out right now to keep them competitive outside of the holiday buying period.

Oh, so if they release a new Mario the Wii will light up the charts? Glad you're so confident of that. It isn't like the already hit us with 3 this generation if you don't count Super Paper Mario. Oh well, let us hope the Wii U has the same kind of 3rd party support since you're so convinced Nintendo don't need them.

3rd parities did have a role in it but not the role they have for MS and Sony

Like I said, you can make the argument that this generation Nintendo did pretty well without them, but don't for a second think Nintendo will keep it this way. They came in and got everyone by surprise, provided a new way to play and it really caught on, nobody is taking that away. I just don't like this new assumption by many that Nintendo needs nobody but Nintendo, because if Nintendo carried that same attitude I don't think they would be trying so hard to get these 3rd parties on board. So obviously someone is wrong in their assumption and from the evidence I see, I don't think it is me or Nintendo. That is all I am saying.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Mario Kart Wii has been bundled for a very long time now.

It sold 27M before it was bundled.

But since it became bundled, it doesn't count?

I’ll put this very simple for you

Nintendo does not need 3rd party games to be fine but Sony does
loosing most of the big exclusives is proof of that.
