Forums - Gaming - Windows Phone speed test Challenge CES. Smokes Competition.

The face of the small guy with the IPhone 4s. My wifes phone has twice the hardware on her droid yet mine kills hers for speed on everything. So this oesnt surprise me.

Microsoft should use this video as prime time TV adverts. Just pay it all year. The OS  is coded so much better.

Maybe that guy is just an insanely fast typer...?

That's definitely part of it. Like the one part where they have to type a comment on facebook. He's done right away and she says "I haven't even finished typing facebook yet!"

Obviously he has the app right there ready to go and is quicker than your average smartphone user. The nerdy iphone guy beating him makes me suspect this even more.

Not to take all of this away, I'm sure it's a fast phone, but I can't see it being much faster than the iphone 4S or top androids.

To be honest most operatios on WP7 once the scren unlocks takes little more than 2 clicks. I can pot to both Twitter and Facebook at te sae time with 2 clicks and 1 message for example. Also WP7 uses hardware aceleraton for any networking. IE, searching for restaraunt etc. I can fnd a local restaraunt to eat in through inbuilt bing in .................. 8 secs. Just did it now fom the locked screen. Includes telephone number an directions. It really is designed impeccably.

There is no app for Facebook on WP7. Its in built to the OS. It takes 2 clicks to post 1 written message to Twitter, Facebook and MSN at the same time.

Also everything in the video was done from locked screen. So nothing was 'ready to go'

The thing with the WP7 OS most people dont know is it has been designed to be in and out quickly. Half the stuff you need an app for on Droid or IOS is inbuilt to the WP7 OS.

But will it blend?

How does the marketplace hold up compared to the app store and Android market?

Answer: not well, quick google found that they both have well over 400,000 apps, whilst windows phone is on just below 60,000. I think I'll wait for it to catch up :P

interessting response... after seeing a video that just showed it.

@Andrespetmonkey

Windows Phone 7 has the fastest growing Appstore though. They crossed the 50k mark way faster than Android ever did. And to be honest with you: who the **** needs more than 50k apps anyway. I do have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) and I totally love it but the comparison between XXX thousands of Apps vs XXX thousands of Apps are not my cup of tea. I use about 10 apps frequently and that is it. There is so much garbage on every App store, that you don't need anyway. unless you are interessted in 500 "Fart simulators" or other high quality apps.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

It's the best OS out, but nobody wants a windows phone even after MS has poured $$$ into marketing, moneyhatting nokia, revamping windows mobile, etc. Secondly, with tablets growth, MS's OS revenue is going to be challenged.

@dallas. Microsofts os % grew in 2011. Not shrunk. Over 1.4 billion people use windows 7. That's insane.
As for windows phone. This is the year to judge Nokia affect. They release in us and china this year among others. The advertising is really starting. And Nokia are shipping more this year. Many places ran out of nokias last year. They had limited numbers for 2011.
