I haven't had to restart my HTC Sensation since it was released. Maybe you should explain to your wife how to use technology in the right way. My Sensation is only slow at loading messages because there are 10k of them. I just said I'm way faster on facebook than that "WP7 ftw"-guy. Again: Just because you can launch everything straight away doesn't make the OS the best of all. If you believe an OS only has to load things fast or have shortcuts for everything you might do some research.

I have never heard of virus protection to be a must on any phone. If you or your wife have/has to use it you definitely do something wrong or have weird friends/contacts.

People should stop taking their usage as a given fact for the whole world. I don't walk around and say 360s never get RRoD because my console from Dec. 2005 never got it and is running great.

Depends on what company Android phone you have, most of them have that feature built into their own widgets, some don't take a lot of the screen while others have full integration of social networking and e-mail etc. that take up 1 entire page. Motoblur(obviously Motorola phone....) has one widget that posts to everything, same for HTC phones, I've never used a Samsung before though I think they have something like that too.

That video is BS btw, he could be there everyday to gather enough nubs who don't know how to use their phone properly vs his already primed and ready to go phone on Wifi while others on mobile data, all it takes is some video editing if he happens to loose.

And you should see the mess it does in Italy with maps, I never use it directly, but some Facebook events use it for directions to reach the places where they'll happen, and many times, opening the same event pages, if they happen in least important roads, squares and alleys, Bing points you to different places, sometimes the right ones, sometimes somewhere completely different and far away.

Selnor, your wife shouldn't use an Android phone, it's not meant to be, tell her to switch. When it comes to smart phones, I always say the same things to people that ask me the questions, here it is:

"If you want a streamlined experience where things are easy to use and have many options to choose from, go for the iPhone for now because it's the best phone for End Users that don't want to customize anything, but, if you are a person who has a higher tech profile and like to make the phone truly yours(or your bitch per say,) get an Android phone since it's the most customizable phone on the market for you to do what you want."

I don't mention WP7 at all, but that doesn't mean it's bad, it just hasn't proven itself to me in my eyes yet, and that took Android awhile to do so for me as well since I started with a 3GS when Android wasn't as good yet. Also, ICS is like that super sweet nectar, so so sweet...... if people know wtf they are doing anyways.

Case point, your wife shouldn't use an Android phone from what I'm reading, get her an iPhone or WP7 next time if you like WP7 so much.

Unfortunately she was sold an android phone by phones 4 U whilst I was working.
Since then because of the droid marketplace and the randomness of some apps being dodgy, she has had a few dodgy apps. So she runs avg antivirus so she hopefully can use droid market safely.
Another main issue she gets I. Quite often is a very very hot phone. She isn't alone here. Most android phones get very hot. Its a common problem for phone returns in Carphone warehouse where my brother in law works. The os is using the hardware really hard which in my opinion is the android os real downfall. Even just going on browser sends my wifes phone on a crazy heat fuelled moment. As a result she's on her 3 rd phone in a 18 month contract and the heat has killed 1 screen and 2 batteries. Even on this third phone the battery now only lasts 3-4 hours before needing a charge.
there's to many variables to go on for a small device in terms of open source access and speed of is. Even not using any network app, the phone takes longer to load apps or take photos etc. Her 3rd phone. This phone won 2 phone of the year awards in UK but is the highest returned phone in Carphone warehouse at least.
There's so many stories like this with varying android phones all over the web to. You get some with all phones, but android seems to have common issues. Speed, heat and viruses. On any phone out there, these are the regular complaints.

Maybe its pure luck that my wife has had this poor service from her phone. But its not the first person I've heard of with a problematic android phone. Its almost regular to know someone who has or knows someone else who has had and android phone taken back.

He's talking about integrated Bing on the Windows 7 phone not a browser. On a browser Bing just isn't anywhere near as good as Google (of course I haven't tried Bing for many months now) but the integrated Bing on the Windows 7 phones is really amazing and nothing I've used can compare to it....it's the exact opposite of what you are used to from browsers.

Things are not as dodgey these days, I recommend uninstalling AVG on that phone, that thing slows down your phone by a lot and kills battery life. Get Advanced Task Manager, free or pro don't matter, there is a widget from the app that kills unused apps or things that don't matter with one touch on the screen on top of it doing so automatically which would also save battery time with the addition of speed increase. Hot battery is on all smartphones btw, iPhones get hot, Android phones get hot, as do WP7 phones, they go into overdrive trying to pull network data when the mobile data stream is iffy, I'd say bad luck and when the contract is up, if she still wants an Android phone, Galaxy Nexus from Samsung is a hot ass phone and the AMOLED is sweet.

Oh and, when you push the search button on an Android phone, google pops up in under a second with a mic option, and the search results are better than bing =P. I hope your wife knows at least that much or I'd be worried lol.

I'm starting to think it's just a time thing because I remember back in 08 how worthless Google Maps were. I was traveling to a big city and not only were the directions from it confusing as hell but in the end it didn't even lead me to the same neighborhood I was trying to get too. They've come a long, long ways since then though, although I think MapQuest is still by far the best one to use for directions because I've never had a problem with them.

Edit: I have a question that's a bit random. Why is voice to text so worthless but the voice search option for phones works almost perfectly?
