Nintendo is lazy. They better provide a better option than the Wii mote and nunchuk or else they will suffer the fate of consumers seeing it as another Wii. There has to be an update of those motion controls to better resemble the accuracy of the PlayStation Move.

Actually, that may become a problem.  Not a major one, mind you, but still a problem.  Given the console has a similar look to the Wii, as well as being called Wii U (instead of Wii 2 or an original name), some out of the gaming loop who see it still uses the old Wii-motes may think it is just Wii redesign with a new controller.  The same thing happened to the 3DS when it first launched.  It's similar design to the DS, plus the name 3DS, brought some to believe it was just a redesign of the DS with 3D.  Hopefully, Nintendo will have better launch advertising to get the point across that it is, in fact, a new console.

I dont think that is really true.  I dont know about overseas, but in the US there were 3DSs everywhere, TArget, Walmart, Gamestop, Best Buy, those are big stores. So it wasnt like people could not play them.  They just were not interested in the 3d at least not for the initial price

Like I said, I don't think it was a major problem (price was the major issue), but definitely played its part.  Plus, not every store I have been to has had them set up, especially not at launch.  It's only been in the last few months I have seen my local Wal-mart and Best Buy set one up for play.  Gamestop had one up a week or so after launch, but not everyone goes to Gamestop.  And Nintendo's initial ads didn't help matters, either.  Just people staring at the screen with no gameplay footage.  So, I'm not surprised some didn't realize it was a brand new system.

Multiplayer now days is mostly an online affair so I don't see this affecting Wii U at all, it's the online element they need to worry about, 2 controllers is most likely enough as I don't think I've ever really used my second controllers that much this gen.

Wii U controller has only one problem: compared to the Wii Remote it's steep back.

Hmmm, interesting. I can only see the problem of only one or two wii U tablets happening to smaller kids, I'm talking 7 ~ 10 year olds. Those are the type of "gamers" who will get greedy with the tablet until a parent tells them to share. Of course this isn't always the case, but I know i had the same problem back when my bro was about 8 or 9. We would play SSX tricky on my PS2 and he would not play if he couldn't use the Mad Catz light-up controller. Older or hardcore Nintendo fans won't have this problem.

My problem with the Wii U is just the lack of info at the moment. I want some facts and details. Announce some hard hitting games, get us excited.

I thought I was the only one feeling like that, that tablet looks not only fragile but cumbersome.

Rather than a step back, it seems to me more like a step in a different direction.

THis woudl be great, if this was a Sony or MS machine, its not. This is Ninty, and lets keep it real here, people arent buying Ninty systems for the online.  So unless Wii U gets a online as good as LIVe or better, which i doubt, it is going to be a problem for Ninty.  Wii buitl itself on the local multi, I would hope that they dont flush that down the crapper to try to chase the experience that the others have, cause as it stands right now, they are years behind even PSN.

When I say the basis, I mean like a starting point.  Of course, I think Nintendo plans to take full advantage of the tablet controller, especially in single-player games, but they are really limiting themselves by using the same old Wii-motes for the other controllers.  This means games will have to be developed around the lowest common denomenator, the Wii-mote, which as I said will gimp the implementation of the actual Wii U tablet in multiplayer games.  And I'm not sure what you need an example of.

The way Nintendo should have approached this was to build the system around a minimum of 2 tablets, with an ulitmate goal of supporting 4.  Instead, it seems Nintendo wanted to get in on the recent tablet craze, as well as get their system out first, so they just threw in minimum support of 1.  Only after much negativity on the internet did Nintendo decide to try and support 2 tablet controllers.  So far, we have no idea if they will pull it off.  And if they do, if it will cause performeance issues, or a drop in graphical ability.  Of course, for my argument, I decided to pretend they have been able to do it.

You need to come up with an example that will lead to multiplayer games being gimped for Wiimote users. Neither you or anyone else in this thread could think of something so far. You need at least something to convince me that it is an issue instead of blindly assuming that Nintendo will come up with something truly revolutionary.

I already gave you a hypothetical situation.  Like the additional features that could be implemented with the tablet for Smash Bros., quick tap buttons for moves, maybe different ways to block or attack by aiming the controller at the screen, hell just even a deeper fighting experience using all the buttons for different types of attacks.  Or for Mario Kart, maybe quick tap buttons for power-ups, or pulling off special maneuvers, or maybe a pick up that reveals a hidden path on the map on the tablet.  Of course, if you sat and thought about it you could comeup with even more ways to exploit the tablet controller.  Now, will a person playing with the Wii-mote get all of those features?  No.  So a developer will have to gimp the person using the tablet controller to make the game even for both.  Otherwise, it would be an easy win every time = no fun.  So very little use of the tablet's screen, fighting games will be regulated to only a couple of buttons for attacks, no taps on the screen to do things.

I know some would say, "But some of those display features can be pulled of by using the TV for the Wii-motes."  True, but then, what's the point?  If not everyone is getting the full immersion of the game, and playing the Wii U with it's main draw, why even have one?  Is coming over to a friends house and playing with a Wii-mote like you already do with the Wii going to make you want the system, probably not.  Then I know some would say, "But that's what online gaming is for."  You have to remember, this console is being aimed at the same people who bought the Wii, hence the reason it still uses Wii-motes.  How many of those 89.5 mil owners do you think have actually played online for an extended amount of time, or even at all?  Maybe 10-15%?  Wii has never been about its HUGE online community, unlike the 360 and PS3.  It's been about having it a parties for playing multiplayer with a bunch of people.  The same is going to be true of the Wii U.  Yes, Nintendo is trying to build a better online experience, but we have to see how that will play out, or how many will actually use it.

Those are laughable concerns, at least with the examples you provided.

Super Smash Bros. can simply be played by connecting Classic Controllers to the Wiimotes. Mario Kart is already playable with a Wiimote setup and the Wiimote/Nunchuk option in the Wii game was superior to the CC and GC controller setups. For other types of games, the Wiimote/Nunchuk setup is perfectly viable.

I take it, you have never played the Wii.

U have to be more creative than that.

(assuming Ninty pack in a Wiimote+ with every WiiU) I reckon we would see a MarioKart double dash 2 on the WiiU. Motion+ tracking with the Wiimote+ is gonna open up a lot of possibilities for the steering wheel with that device alone. And Co-op mode we'll have one steering with the wheel, and the other guy in the back, 360° gyro aiming ( from a First Person view)  with the WiiU control. Some new Items and abilities will have to be introduced to make gyro aiming even more fun though ( maybe some kinda item that acts like a missile or even some kinda grappling hook). Switching between driver and shooter would only be superficial though, but a small gripe.

Well thats what I think may come.
