Many of you guys are missing the point. I agree with the original post for a variety of reasons.
1. Wii U does not equal Wii. This means that those who buy Wii U, may not necessarily like Wii, therefore they don't like the Wii Remote. This will be a problem.
2. Backwards compatibility controller wise is not a solution, rather, it's a "temporary fix". Just as I said before, many people did not like to use Wii Remotes, and not everyone who buys a Wii U will want to use one. So if this is true for consumers, it's safe to say 3rd parties think this way too. Not all 3rd party developers like Wii Remotes, thus they didn't develop their games on Wii. This will be somewhat of a problem. You want local 4 player multi-player Nintendo? Do it the right way.
3. N64 - 4 Players Gamecube - 4 Players Wii - 4 Players Wii U - 1 or 2 Players? A step backwards? Yeah I would say so. And for those who say, "Well, the Wii U is not powerful enough!" or "They'll be connectivity issues!" I say, To hell with those statements, they mean nothing to me.
Any rebuttals?
NINTENDO
