With cutscenes and in-game assets I think Final Fantasy XIII would have been on 2 discs without the pre-rendered cutscenes (barely filling the second disc though), over half of Final Fantasy XIII's file size was pre-rendered cutscenes on the Xbox 360 version and the Xbox 360 version was severely compressed.
Still, it's not good news. Either the game has a lot less CGI and better looking pre-rendered cutscenes or the game is just generally shorter.

Agreed.
e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
Either we've lost pre-rendered cut scenes, or the game is a lot shorter...
TBH, I don't care. So long as there's loadsa side-quests and lots of towns and interesting characters, with a huge, free to explore overworld, I'll be fine.
(sigh, I hope...)

It's good news that It's on one disc, but I'm gonna miss those nice cgi cut scenes. Square-Enix does those CGI scenes the best. |
i hear that. i love CGI in all of Squares games, they used to have just enough to satisfy you, only Dirge of Cerebus went overboard, but know they will have none?? And people wonder why some think the series is not the way it used to be
Suddenly, everybody that hated FF13 has fond memories of how awesome it was? If this new one has more of everything that you wanted and less FMV (We automatically assume), then WTF? What will it take to please people?
Multiple discs: Boo! Now I have to get up every 15 hours!
Single disc: Boo! Now I can't see all of spectacular CGI that Square never made, anyway!
If you guys were my girlfriend, I'd say, "No pussy is worth this, you bi-polar nut!" and then I'd leave you sitting in Applebee's crying into your Long Island Iced Tea. Then I'd call you later and apologize so that we can have some make up sex.

I thought that make up sex was some wierd kinky shit involving make up (as in what you put on your face). I felt like such an idiot when I realised what it actually meant.
And I agree, you can't please Final Fantasy fans, there is always somebody who hates on a Final Fantasy game, it's just FFXIII got the worst of it.

But don't you see. This is the FF fanbase. We are impossible to please nor can you ever hope to satisfy.

Sure you can. Look at FF VI. Never have I seen more universal love for one game.
