Forums - Website Topics - GameJournos.com: Breach of ethics by VGC? Updated: Details of RubangB's Departure

@ ioi

You talk of a hit list. I assume this is a list of people you were gonna replace. I'm curious, was I on that list before I had to quit (due to time restraints, not disliking the job)? I know my "quality" of writing wasn't exactly good, but I got tons of different stuff on the site with a fair few topping 5,000 hits.

Wont take it to heart if I was. Just curious.

OT:
While this does sound pretty bad, it also sounds pretty much like Joe is being a bitter cry baby.

This would only be a problem if there was any negative press for killzone 3, infamous 2 and GT5 at that time. I can't think of any.

What I want to know is if the reviews are affected by this?

Absolutely not.

I want to categorically say that in all of my time on the review team not once have I felt pressure to alter my scores as a result of receiving review copies or us having an ad campaign going on for the game - the subject has never once even been broached by anyone, I'm proud to say, and I'm confident everyone else on the review team will be able to say the same thing (heck, the OP is the first I'd heard about any of this). But I'm angry about how this is going to look, because no matter what any of us say, this is understandably going to lead people to question gamrReview's credibility.

This.

Thanks for clearing this up. To be  honest, I am a Sony follower first and foremost and after reading this I still most certainly do not question gamrReview's credibility.  I trust the reviews from this site simple as.

right on maverick40

the reveiws are more creditable here then anywhere else i've been although Adam Sessler is a reviewing god.

And that's the beauty of being a features writer, keeping it simple. A little Most Wanted over here, a little gamrConnect Celebrates over there... little controversy (Big the Cat is gamrConnect's least favorite Sonic character... who knew? ), lots of fun. ^_~

And the writing here and now is devoid of bias and is as professional as ever then?

Gotcha.

What you really mean is that it isn't as biased in your favour as it once was (which will of course now make it seem biased to you).

You're entitled to your opinion and I heard it months ago.

Tres magnifique et au revoir.

if you 2 have anything more to say to each other plz take it out of the threads. this is more of a private thing so try to keep it that way.

Dude, it's on topic and brett can't post where the heck he likes on his own website 0_o

Seece I think he was joking....

This is Marcus we're talking about ...

whts that suppose to mean?

I was replaced? There must be a nice memory disparity here - I quit myself because the environment became toxic and you demolished the news section by isolating it like that and shifitng focus from supply and demand to god knows what. If the staff forum thread is alive, then you can see it there (not that you care, though - I guess?)

I also don't remember users complaining my quality of writing too much - unless I deserved it. Frankly, I was mostly enjoyed.

Have a nice evening.

I remember very clearly - a lot of your writing was heavily biased and poorly written - great for hits but not for a professional image. You were on the hit list when things were switched around and we had a drive to increase the quality of writing.

To be honest, the same goes for all ex staff members and even certain regulars who have this bitter and twisted attitude these days. If you don't like things around here then you know where the door is. I'm hugely greatful to everyone that has been here since the early days and even moreso to anyone who has at some point worked for the site but you were paid for your services at that time and/or have enjoyed using the site - I don't owe you anything. If you are no longer working for the site it is for good reason. If you can't handle this, don't like the direction the site is going in and it makes you bitter then don't hang around!

And yet people like Ben Yoder are allowed to post horribly written articles full of bias and factual errors?

So that's why Eyepet and Friends isn't in the top spot! For shame, Smeags!

Haha, I knew who posted this from the title, MM you really do like to highlight how 'bad' VGC with this and constant comparing to how amazing GAF is. Anyway, where's the proof I'd like to ask? It's not like conversations like that can't be manipulated is it?

Like Brett said, he just seems incredibly bitter.

I've only ever made threads concerning the forums, as that and the charts (which I have no issue with) are the portions of the site I care about.  And I'm not some guy that makes threads just to bitch.  My threads generally focus on suggestions on how to make things better, as I genuinely care about the good of the site.

As for this thread, it was going to be made either way, and I neither commented on the actual issue nor compared the site to any other entities.

If the articles in the past qualified as unprofessional, what do the ones now count as?
