Microsoft need to start caring more about quality and its fanbase first and market share and the masses second.

I agree. MS should stop caring about being successful in the video game industry. How dare they wish for marketshare and wish to entertain the masses. They don't cater to me, so they are wrong and I am right...

Microsoft has no imagination so I wonder what they will come up with to top Nintendo's Wii-U controller.

Microsoft has more imagination than Sony to be honest. Compare Kinect to Move and you'll see what I mean.

They are also one of the smarter business decision takers in the market imo.

Sony has more imagination than Microsoft to be honest. Compare their 1st and 2nd party offerings and you'll see what I mean.

See.  I can cherry pick, too.  :)

But anyways i am banking on MS releasing a service, but all points to 2015 after the windows 8 life cycle, with the service wil come a DD only console and cloud gaming. But Mircosoft could release the Kinectbox which is a updated 360 with built in Kinect, maybe better kinect as well being a Kinect 2.

God, why do people STILL keep suggesting a NextBox with "built in Kinect"?? That is still the most retarded and pointless idea ever and has always been! Kinect is a camera peripheral that needs to be placed at a specific height and location relative to your playing space. Unless the whole console could somehow fit in the space that takes up Kinect, this would be impossible for most people to accomodate. So please, stop suggesting something so silly as a built in Kinect/Move for next generation consoles. They will always be connected peripherals via USB or some interface and not built in (until the day that consoles are as small as the cameras themselves).

I usually understand the built-in Kinect as meaning Kinect in the box with every console sold from launch. That I do believe will happen.

I believe that 2013 was planned after all.

I'm going to play devils advocate and reckon that it was Nintendo who rushed the Wii U to beat Microsoft and Sony. That Wii U E3 unveil pretty much proves this imo.

lol yeah right! Nintendo is fallowing the traditional 5-6 years of a console life span so no they are not rushing it. MS rushed the 360 after the xbox was out only 4 years and if Nintendo would be rushing their consoles in fear of the competition then why did they not rush the Wii?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I don't think it's that bad of an idea for MS to release their next console by 2013 gives them plenty of time to study the console(wish probably be shown at both gamescom and TGS) will have a little window opportunity to see the sales/sales trend of the Wii U to make their final judgement on what they need to compete with the console.

I don't think MS or Sony need to rush to compete with nintendo's next console though, from my little anecdotal evidence, people who know of the Wii U just see it as a console to compete with the current HD consoles, Some people think it was another upgrade of the wii(possibly to suffer from the same fate as the 3DS?) Sony and MS should wait and see what 3rd party support(either exclusive wise or exclusive content wise) the Wii U is getting to decide when they should jump in(I don't think the Wii U will survive on 1st party titles and shovelware this time around)

I hope the Wii U is successful though, would make for better competition.

Surprise!

Just kidding, surely this was obvious? Why would they let Ninty run away with it for 2-3 years? That's why PSVita is releasing this year...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Suffer the same fate as the 3DS? You were probably one of those saying the same about the Wii when the DS came out I bet. And yeah, I hope so too. Good thing MS is taking them seriously. 3rd parties should start following their example. It would give better games in the big picture.

really? I bought the original DS on it's first holiday season, the wii was the 2nd home console I purchased. never said a bad thing about the Wii or DS

though I will not out the whole "DOOMZDAY" on the 3DS, but is a pretty much a common notion that one of the reasons why the 3DS isn't having such blockbusters sales is how both the name and look of the console  resembles it predecessors. Like BenVtrigger has stated multiple times; many people see the 3DS as just another upgrade to the already multiple version of the DS family.(from my gamestop expiriences) I hope nintendo in the near future can somehow distinguished the 3DS from it's last gen counter-part as it really is a damn good handheld. now if the average consumer here's nintendo next system is called the "Wii U" they probably might think the same thing.
