What's interesting, you point out the one region where GT5 wasn't expected to have a large, system-moving impact. Showing an NPD chart is useless, because nobody said GT5 would move massive systems in the Americas. Let's try another perspective: Pre-GT5 week (EMEAA) -
Pre-GT5 week (Japan) -
GT5 week (Japan) -
GT5 Week (EMEAA) -
Look at what console had the largest increases.
PS3 WW GT5 week -
Same week in 2009 WW -
PS3 EMEAA Dec 2010 WW - 1,707,733 PS3 EMEAA WW Dec 2009 WW - 1,564,482 In the region where GT5 was expected to have it's largest impact on PS3 hardware, it had it. |
Very well, i'll let you have this one, but I'd argue (successfully, I might add) that NPD info is not useless, specially for companies like SCEA who are vying for top of the list in this most important market. The Americas isn't a region I'd wager SON¥ would feel overjoyed about coming up dead last in. Cheerio.
