Unlike MS and Sony, Nintendo have been losing money for the last 2 quarters I think, So they are unlikely to cut the price of the Wii and lose even more money

Nintendo was in the red one quarter iirc, and that's because they lumped all their currency fluctuations from the year into it (plus 3DS R&D expenses on top).

LOL!!!

Not sure if serious

Nintendo lost money in Apr-Jun 2010 and lost money over Apr - Sept 2010, but the Apr-June 2010 loss was -$275m and the Apr-Sept loss was -$38m. To knock the loss down, Nintendo profited in July to September 2010 by about $240m. With software royalties up for Oct-Dec they should be making a ton of money again.

I say to bring out the Vitality Sensor and Wii Relax first, as that I think has potential to be near Wii Fit huge. If that fails, THEN resort to the price drop. Nintendo seems reluctant to decrease the future value of their console, and I agree. They are going to need the price drop card later down the road. Games should always be the first line of defense in terms of keeping momentum. If that fails, THEN try the price drop.

Agreed. The Vitality Sensor has the potential to completely revitalize the Wii, especially in Japan, which is dominated by the elderly demographic. If Nintendo gets them hooked, WF won't compare to Wii Relax sales in Japan.

I think neither poster really had exactly any idea how Nintendo Financial Report worked. Yes TheSource does a good job of explaining.

Or it could share the fate of Wii music ;)

New Mario game would be much better. Or Wii pokemon

continuing the trend of god awful and frankly boring Japanese numbers...

all consoles will be down YOY... all of 'em, some by quite a lot.

I actually think the PS3 has a chance of being up YoY if the price is cut right, and XIII-2 can boost sales.

Other than that. It's looking like Wii will have its worst year ever. 360 is just the 360. DS will be low, PSP will be low.

3DS and PSP2 should make things interesting.

It would be great to get hold of the Japanese PSN software numbers.

SOMETHING must be driving the PS3 sales, and it looks like disk-based software isn't it.
