I'm doing my part!

My current gen game collection doesn't include a single COD or Halo game! :P

I've yet to get Alan Wake and Enslaved though.  That's going to change in the coming weeks/months.

But I have to agree to the claim that there are too many great titles being released in the same time windows and that as I grow older, I don't have as much time as I'd like to play games. :(

My theory: bigger userbases don't help bad games to sell e.g. Metroid Other M.

Red Steel 2 was a sequel to a mediocre FPS, missing the originals most popular feature, requiring a peripheral not everyone has.  

Castlevania I think fell into the trap of failing to appeal to a broad audience, while alienating some of it's 'core' fanbase

Tatsunoko vs Capcom was released with basically no adverts, featuring characters, many of which even I hadn't heard of (and I consider myself to have a decent knowledge in Anime)

Blur featured adverts aimed at those who played or own Mario Kart, yet did not release on platforms with Mario Kart on them.

IMO you've said it yourself. Why are there so many good games this year? People are split on wahat to get so go for the bigger, more advertised one, such as SMG2, Red Dead Redemption, DQIX, Monster Hunter etc. 

They can't afford all these games, so they have to make a decision. Hence why the sales are spread so thin

All these "hardcore gamers" bitch about buying this and that game and praising "original" or "innovative" titles, but do not show up to buy them.

In the first week, Medal of Honor sold more than the majority of those PS3/360 games combined that are listed in the first paragraph (Castlevania, Enslaved, Split/Second, Alan Wake, Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions, Prince of Persia: TFS)

Pathetic.

Check out that 360 Top 30 and you get Sports, Shooter, Sequel. The PS3 is a bit more varied surprisingly...BUT NOT BY MUCH!! :P

They choose the wrong release dates.

The people calling themselves hardcore only buy hyped games

I think its just too many great games are being released very close to each other.

I can't remember a year that felt so packed like this.

poor poor castlevania. it deserves more, with my tight budget it convinced me to buy it, and i already bought 3 hack n slash games this year.

*hopes that kotick will put online payment for cod:bo tomorow*

Yeah too many games. The solution is to have 24 months per year!
