Nintendo games sell best on Nintendo consoles, this should be nothing new. But at the same time, I think there can be a lot of potential million sellers from 3rd parties on Wii.. but like many people here said, they first have to make them GOOD.

Anyway, having 3 3rd party games that have sold 1 million in just a year aint too shabby, espeically considering it's a nintendo console. And I expect more to follow soon, including RE:UC, DQS (once it hits US and Europe of course), Guitar Hero 3, Sonic and Mario at the Olympics, hell even Sonic and the Secret Rings might reach that mark sooner or later.

Its true there is an abundance of first party titles, but thats not just because the lack of good third party titles, but its just how good nintendo are in producing games so they tend to eclipse them. Still it would be nice if they even out!

For GC, I think it's 38 million sellers of which around 8 are third party. Wii will pass both those figures early 2009.

How many million sellers did the 360 have in it's first year for comparison? Can someone do up a thread devoted to that... maybe compare 1st vs. 2nd year sales?

I have to support Weezy on this one ... Excite Truck was not a good game. It was average. It is shame that the game sold more than most Wii games that deserve bigger sales.

Top 8 titles are all from Nintendo.

- Don't forget the GC version of Zelda: Twilight Princess. That's another 1.33m sold.

- Of the +500k list, some will be million sellers soon: at least Mario Strikers, Metroid, Guitar Hero and Mario&Sonic.

This has at least as much to do with Nintendo being the first party in question as it has to do with lackluster third-party support.  What's more, everyone here knows that the Wii started life with too few third party supporters; everyone here ought to know that that is no longer the case, or nearly so. 

The Wii is going to dominate like the PS2 did.  If not in proportion of sales then in proportion of influence on the market.  Done deal, no question. 

"Stellar" 3rd party support is more or less guaranteed when a console blows away all other systems.

It's just a big easy number to understand. I'm fairly sure that Sega is happy with Sonic and the Secret Rings sales (especially considering their other next gen sonic effort), EA should be pretty pleased with Tiger 07(if not Tiger 08), Majesco must be thrilled with Cooking Mama sales and plenty of other games are seeing fairly decent sales right now. So far there are plenty of reasons for third parties to be happy with their Wii game sales. There are also plenty of reasons for third parties to be hanging their heads in shame. Is anyone at Ubisoft saying "You know guys, I'm not so sure the Wii will be successful for us... I mean look at Far Cry sales! I spent all night developing that game and it flopped!"

 

How can it be that nobody quotes this and says it is a great joke?! You guys should really give more love to stof!!

3rd party games dont seem to be on that list..

Also 2 3rd party games are about to be on the ps3's list making it 4 million sellers in 2 weeks.
