Actually, GT3 did take me longer to fully complete than GT4, even though it had less cars and tracks. It was the damn random prize system that always screwed me over from getting the final cars >_> |
Same! The major problem was that to get the best and rarest cars, you have to win those damn Endurance races (or that event called "Like the wind"). I think it took me over one year just to get about 10 different cars which could only be won. Not to mention those Endurance races were fricking frustrating and LONG!
I remember though, the event "Like the Wind" used to be one of my most favourite events even though the prize money was very little. I particularly liked to experiment what different cars were useful in that event without their engines busting or overheating or whatever it was that slowed you down on 6th gear!

"Like the Wind" was amazing. A 20 lap run through Test Track, which could be easily won with any car above Volkswagen V12 Nardo category It also gave you 20K or so prize money if i'm not mistaken. That was my main grinding spot for cash.
I particulary loathe the Polyphony Formula Cup A 10 track, 60plus laps hell through most of the hardest tracks in GT3, using only a Polyphony F1 Car, against other Polyphony F1 cars, and the only thing you could "tune" was the hardness of the R tires.
And you had to do it 4 times, minimum, to win at least one of each prize cup car >_>

Physics works the same regardless of what car you're driving. Once you have a transient steady state physics engine, you're good for anything with tires.

Well, at Inside Sims Racing preview (one of the biggest and most highest regarded reviewers of racing sims), they pointed out how each car handles differently and how you can actually feel the physics (especially the feedback from the track, being almost 1:1 to how the track feels, meaning you can sense the impact of each bump of the track in the handling of the car) while driving.
Here's the link if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdH8tFpkKYA
So, I don't see how you claim the physics works the same for each car Got any proof to back that statement?

For me, 20k was nothing I could seriously never grind over 20 laps of the Test track, once enough was always a relief since it took so long to complete. As for the Polyphony Formula Cup, I think I was lucky enough to win a Polyphony F1 car in one of the endurance races. That Cup was hella hard to win though!
I don't know if this is any secret but the way I earned money was doing a certain event(s) (forgot which one as its been so long now) which would win you a Mazda RX-8. And then I would sell the Mazda RX-8 every time which I think would earn you 75k (or was it more? Can't remember) I did that so many times until I was insanely rich and could buy whatever I wanted!
I may just throw GT3 back into the PS2 for some some of those great memories and to get me pumped up for GT5.
From Oniichan massive, mega, super magnificent resume of the scans:

So, standard cars do have normal cockpit camera That's the last big straw that the naysayers still had against GT5

Formula 1 addition, even if it's only with the Red Bull car, and the Ferrari F1 from GT PSP, it's pretty darn good too. I'm amazed at IRL too though
- For the first time the system of the weather effect is present (rain, wind) and of the cycle day and night, with contests also only in nocturnal
Please, let it be dynamic weather That's the last thing that GT5 needs to have to become the über racing sims

Yeah I remember that event. GT4 had one of the sorts, in the special conditions races, where you would win an Toyota rally car in one of the easiest races and sell it for 250K profit
I'm going to give GT4 a go, when I get back from vacation. I did everything I could on GT5:P, so nothing better than to polish with the oldies
