Overall I think it was a good conference. I greatly enjoyed the core games shown (all of them, and I'm not a Fable kind of guy), and th Kinect games generally looked neat.

I want it clear that I still expect it to be dead on arrival. It does, however, look neat.

Dead on arrival? What exactly? U mean Kinect?

*Sigh*

They really should have spared Rising for the end, just like Nintendo with Other M last year. Except last year, Other M was one of the few titles I cared about. This year, Rising was the only game I cared about.

Kinect is a very impressive piece of hardware, but I just don't care about it. I don't know why, I just don't.

EDIT: Although, I have to admit, there's something compelling about Reach. I'm actually interested about... A Halo game?

I don't understand what was so great about what they showed of Kinect.

-No, it's not launching in June, as was pretty heavily rumoured.

-Kinect Fit? Really?

-Observing a car from all angles (nice technology, but what is the point?)

-A Star Wars game which looks worryingly similar to Clone Wars (I liked this, actually)

-Dance Central. I...I don't even know what to say.

-Kinect Sports didn't look too bad. Fine.

-Kinectimals...no comment.

-Kinect Adventures- LOL.

So, it was decent. Of course, the core game coverage was fantastic, and would have been better if they'd shown more of it. And the hardware announcement at the end was pretty exciting, until they revealed that it cost the same as the old 360.

I see a BIG problem for Kinect right now.

They showed nothing about Kinect that will support the existing owners of Xbox 360s. No Halo or Gear support for Kinect. So there isn't a big incentive for these people to get it.

If the Kinect costs say $150, that will bring the total price to $450. No way in hell are you going to get many people to buy in at that price when the Wii costs $250 less.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

The new model 360 seems to address every complaint I've heard about the system in forums (noise, small hard drive, heat issues, not wireless, etc) and some people are still complaining about it.  It's like they wouldn't have been happy unless it was sold for $149 (and even then some probably would have bitched about it).  It's like Microsoft can't win with some people regardless of whatever they do.

Come on, the slim is a great package but the price ($299) is just wrong.  This should've been $199.  This should've been their response to PS3 momentum.  They got the price wrong, end of story.

Ill say this

I hate motion controls but based off of Software
for me

Move>Kinect

Why? Socom 4, Heavy Rain and Resident Evil 5 will all be Move Playable

As well as regular controller...which is most likely actually more fun.

Problem is casuals dont buy Resi 5 or Socom 4 or Mario Galaxy etc. I think thats the difference between what M$ are aiming at and what Sony are aiming at.

M$ will get stick for their casual lineup. But they will get alot of sales fom it.

The tech is truly amazing.

What will happen to the Arcade model though ?

Redesign as well or will they simply stop shipping it ? That would be an uber flop.

Yes. I expect it to perform poorly - if it mets Microsoft's expectations I will be surprised, and people's expectations on this board are way too high.

I think it will be this generation's 32x.

OMFG. Hell yes. New Xbox available NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was only a couple of days ago you were saying the 360 slim Natal bundle wouldn't be anymore expensive than the Wii. The 360 slim didn't even get a price drop... even without a Natal thrown in.

Having said that it did look nice.

I think they decided to give the press a free console so they wouldn't slate that, at best, average press conference.

Did you see the Natal software launch titles... they were poor.

The casuals will love them. People with families will love them. My wife watched the conference with me. And she is already telling me we are getting Kinect. My 3 year old daughter wants Kinectimals. M$ have achieved exactly what they wanted. Sales.

I do not expect gamers on the internet to like the 2nd half of the conference. It wasnt aimed at them anyway. M$ will be on alot of TV shows now in the west. And I also think Japan may actually go for this.

I think the big thing for the casuals is the price. The Wii wouldn't be half as successful if it had launched at the same price as the 360.

The fact that MS didn't announce the price suggests its going to be on the expensive side. Rumored prices of $130-190 is just too much for Kinect to have any significance this gen.

M$ havent had a price drop for over a year. They could easily bundle Kinect with the new 360 for $299 come November. IMO they will.

Indeed, IMO though I don't think Microsoft have fully worked out pricing yet, an Arcade SLIM could very well be imagined yet.

Damn it, I want to want Kinect, it looks awesome, but it doesn't have the games for me. Your Shape looked good, but it's a fitness app. That dance thing looked good, but unless there is partner dancing, it's a no-go. The rest just looked kind of interesting. Give me something awesome!
