Hmmm hard to say, definitely not Portable Ops.

1st - MGS4 - Just because it was the finale and is the best PS3 game i own.
2nd - MGS - First MGS game i played favourite PS1 game.
3rd - MGS3 - Another great game.
4th - MGS2 - One of my favourites but the story lets it down.

That is my order, except I think of MGS4 and MGS as 1a and 1b.

I am curious to see anyone think of a rational explanation to back PO as #1 MGS game. I thought it was going to get 1 vote

MGS PO was a different style of game to the other so if people weren't fond of MGS1-4s style then they could prefer PO's which was more like a strategic coop game.

I'm a big fan of the MGS series and I've loved all mainstream MGS titles but for me I've never played a game that offers me such a perfect gaming experience like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

MGS4 is THE best game I've ever played. For me it's got the best box art and best game title. Guns of the Patriots just sounds soooooo EPIC!

If I may ask...what actual experience did u get in MGS4?

MGS4: Guns of the Patriots was an amazing experience the first couple times I played it, but when it comes to replaying it, I can't stand the game. Drebin is totally unnecessary, the bosses suck because they have no character whatsoever and are annoying with their poorly acted screams, crying, and laughing, the ending SUCKS, and there's very little room for interpretation. I rated it a 10/10 after I played it twice, but now I feel like it's a solid 8/10. It also infuriated me that you could have about 9 or 10 items equipped for easy access, but only 5 weapons. WTF?

I think MGS4 could've been polished out so much more. I don't even know where to begin.

Kojima would've been able to put out a complete version of the game if Sony would've allowed him to release it on two Blu Ray discs like it should've been.

Two blu ray discs= 50GB

One dual layer blu-ray disc=50GB

That is not the reason why people say MGS4 lacked polish.

IMO, the only thing that Kojima could've refined was the CQC. It was too slow paced.

@Sorcery- I liked Drebin. I thought the boss fights were good but there was no real point for the beauties to exist. Vamp and Liquid Ocelot boss fights were great. And the ending did not suck. I was confused why Big Boss was still alive but the debriefing explained it pretty well. The ending is one that you can enjoy if you watched all the cut scenes.

I like how people always refer to MGS4 as an one-in-a-kind gaming experience. That is just what it is really. I'll let him explain why...assuming he played the game. Best box art and title??? Those are the reasons why you like MGS4? Seriously did you just go to Gamestop and looked at the box art and title? And then watch IGN's video review? I hope not

I voted for MGS but they should have had an option for Twin Snakes it my preferred version. Great story with MGS2 graphics.

I didn't include Twin Snakes because it was a remake. Plus, a lot of people thought the game's cut scenes were cheesy, as Kojima did not use MGS2 graphics, instead he experimented with different graphics.

Kojima didn't develop TTS I believe he was a supervising producer similar to Rising right now

He was sort of behind the cheesy cutscenes though.  Kitamura's team originally did the cinemas more faithfully to MGS1, Kojima rejected it and asked them to differentiate everything and make it more over the top.

you have a link to all this?

Sure.

Kind of misleading what you originally wrote.

From the link:
"Mr. Kitamura really respected and honored the original work, so like the helicopter, the chopper flying up, the scene there is pretty loyal to the original scene. But then we said, "This isn't it. If we're going to have Mr. Kitamura do it, we want him to do it his way." So what you're not seeing now, but what you'll see later on in the game is totally different. You'll be shocked."

So yes, originally Kitamura stayed true to the original.  And yes, Kojima rejected it.  But Kojima didn't tell him to make it more over the top, he just wanted Kitamura to do it the way that he (Kitamura) wanted to.  It just so happened that Kitamura likes things to be over the top.  I've only seen one of Kitamura's works (Versus), and I haven't played Twin Snakes, so I can't comment on whether or not it follows his style, but from the interview, all the cheesy cutscenes were the work of Kitamura.

OP:  My favorite MGS game is MGS3.  The only real complaint I have about the game is that while the boss fights were great, the bosses themselves weren't all that interesting.

The only thing tolerable about the game was the cinematics and voice acting IMO. Perhaps if Kojima would've had things his way with the two Blu Ray's the gameplay would've been better. It was a marginal effort at best. I wish Kojima would put in gameplay espionage elements like Splinter Cell already. MGS1 and 3 were classics and the gameplay fit the board perfectly. MGS4 was too big of a game to have such a simplistic selection of moves. The road to each boss was disappointing as well, but whatever.....at least it wasn't MGS2.
