Forums - Nintendo - What would you like to see in an Ocarina of Time Remake?

Tagged games:

Ocarina of Time is one of those games I have never played, but long to visit someday, so I can’t speak to much on what I would to see changed. Though if it’s anythink like Majora’s Mask,… IDK. Honestly, I think MM is a nearly perfect game. Not much I’d want changed.

You never played Ocarina of Time? This is unexpected

The number 1 and absolute requirement for me to play is: Remove the awful context-sensitive controls, for love of the God use the standard fixed control schema

The other things are more optional:

- Better camera
- Deeper combat (possible if they fix the controls)
- More freedom with movement, though this can jeopard some puzzles
- Make the Hyrule Field/overworld less empty
- Better inventory/item/weaponry management

Probably in the minority here, but I would like them to turn the game into an open world like BOTW. Would be awesome to experience a seamless open world OOT imo.

Remake the assets and better inventory management and camera control.
That is all I need. A pretty minimal remake like OOT 3D.
OOT with Switch 2 graphics would be gorgeous as long as the art style is preserved.

It'd be interesting to see if they would stay very close to the original game, just updating to modern graphics, filling in some content, and updating controls and whatnot, like what IcaroRibeiro listed, or if they'll go with a full reimagining, expanding the game into a modern size with a large teaming Hyrule field to explore, expanding each area of the game to what you'd expect of a modern game and filling it with new quests and features and mechanics and story elements.

On the one hand I don't care about a remake because OoT is so damn good I feel no need to play or even see it remade. On the other hand it'll be interesting (assuming the rumors are true) to see what Nintendo can do to update such a legendary game to a modern standard if they go for a full reimagining.

I think that is what is going to happen, it'll be a smaller BotW experience.

I was talking to a coworker last friday about it, but then what could it do to feel different from BotW and not just a smaller version of it? Which could make it kinda pointless, after 2 BotW games we had in the last 10 years.
