Yeah, color me surprised. @firebush03 you need to fix this glaring hole in your resume!
@OP: I'd love to see Nintendo honor the general flow and feel of Ocarina, while introducing modern amenities, expanding in some areas, and streamlining a few things. Specifically:
- Dual analog controls (just take full advantage of the Switch 2 controller in general)
- Modern graphics, obviously, but also an art style that captures the whimsy and weirdness of the original
- Expand on the combat phase. I love the combat in Ocarina (it's dangerous and breathless at times) but it could much more tactical. Maybe elaborate on the shield/deflection mechanic? Introduce a perfect guard or parry system?
- Speaking of combat, make it easier to pull up alternative weapons on the fly
- Remove or overhaul the Gerudo stealth sequence
- Streamline the process to hit 100%. Ocarina is one of the best games ever made, but it can be monotonous if you're aiming for 100%, mostly due to the day-night cycle and the time travel mechanic. I'm loath to remove either of those, so maybe just have a better tracking system?
- Add more interaction points in towns and in the wilderness. Hyrule Field, for example, shouldn't be crawling with people, beasts, and quest markers (its open, empty vastness is sort of the point) but it could use more landmarks and things to do
- Keep the perfect music, but introduce some new arrangements that experiment with tempo and/or instrumentation
- Don't emulate Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. I adore those games but their design philosophy doesn't mesh with the spirit of Ocarina of Time. Plus, throw the lock-and-key, dungeon-diving Zelda fans a bone, Nintendo
