Forums - Nintendo - 2026 - What Nintendo IPs that skipped Switch will come to Switch 2?

Switch has had many Nintendo IPs, with Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi Life making their debut this year.

But some were absent: Star Fox and Kid Icarus to name a few.

Remakes, ports, and remasters don't count. By that logic, even DK skipped Switch. But of course Switch 2 has rectified this.

Most IPs that skipped Switch are deep cuts, but which ones do you think are coming back?

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Pilot-Wings I hope. Not been a real entry since 1996. Also a proper F-Zero last real one was Gamecube.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I'm hoping we get a new Wario platformer soon.

Earthbound would be cool. Star Fox and Chibi Robo as well!

Getting a new Mario Kart and DK in the first month and a half of Switch 2 was already a big win for me as someone who played Mario Kart 8 and Tropical Freeze on Wii U back in 2014 and so really missed both IPs not having a new entry on Switch 1.

A new Starfox would be nice, but I don't expect it per se. Maybe following F-Zero 99 they will do something with this series at last.

Yeah, a new Star Fox would be great. Hoping for a new Punch-Out!! as well, but probably not very likely.

Sin & Punishment, NintendoLand, StarFox and 1080° are my guesses

And even that wasn't developed by Nintendo.

I've given up hope on ever seeing a Nintendo-developed F-Zero and Star Fox that lives up to the originals (SNES-N64) again. They either can't do it, or they don't want to. Such a shame, too. So much promise there.

Golden Sun will obviously make a comeback, mark my words. (This time for sure).

Dr. Mario. The last entry in the series was that failed mobile game that shut down after 2 years, and the one before that was on the 3DS over 10 years ago. Unless the games sell that terribly, I'm pretty sure we'll get a new entry sooner or later.
