Better Software Library: DS or Wii?

DS 8 44.44%

Wii 10 55.56%

The Wii and DS combined represented the peak of Nintendo's success. They were on top of both the home console and handheld segments and experienced record profits.

But which one had the better software library?

Of course they both got unique entries in many Nintendo beloved franchises, but they also got their own unique exclusives such as Nintendogs for the DS or Wii Sports for the Wii.

They each had different third party libraries as well.

What do you think?

I'd never been a huge fan of the handheld releases of Nintendo prior to 3DS. Always felt a little "cheap" compared to the home console experience. I'm going with Wii.

The DS library is not too shabby all things said and done. Consider third party entries like all those Phoenix Wrights and Professor Laytons, mixed with The Final Fantasy III and IV remakes as well as Final Fantasy Tactics A2, mixed with The World Ends With You, Sonic Rush, Ghost Trick, Mega Man ZX 1+2, Dragon Quest 4, 5, 6 and 9, and let's not forget some slick shit like Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, all three Castlevanias, Another Code and Last Window. And then on top come New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Pokémon D+P as well as Pokémon B+W (1+2) - that ain't bad at all. Then again we had Star Fox Command, Metroid Prime: Hunters as well as both Zeldas, and all of them kinda felt somehow okayish but not ground breaking. I haven't even mentioned a ton of games like Trauma Center, Animal Crossing and Nintendogs because I don't own them. So really, this library is pretty amazing.

The Wii still wins, though.

The DS, by a lot. I love the Wii, but the DS has some of the best video game variety ever on a system, only the PS2 feels like it has as many hidden gems as the DS.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The Wii; for all the hate it got online, it actually had quite as few legit bangers.

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Zelda Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, Monster Hunter 3, Metroid Prime 3, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mario Kart, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Return to Dreamland, The Last Story...

I personally thought both were plagued with shovelware.

But both platforms had some redeeming titles... If I could pick the option that they are both "equal" I would.

I still play my Wii somewhat regularly. I think the most out of any of by older systems. I play DS games very rarely. So, I'll go with Wii.

The Wii has some of my favorite games ever released. Super Smash Bros. Brawl alone is enough to top the DS.

I think the Wii had higher highs and lower lows compared to the DS.
The DS had the best Pokémon games of any system and the best Adventure games of any console.
The Wii have what in my opinion is the best 3D Mario games and the Best 3D Zelda games.

Wii has Brawl and the Galaxy games, plus some other great games.
The only gen I can think of where a Nintendo handheld was the better platform in my eyes (in terms of software in particular) was 3DS as better than Wii U.
