Do you think you'll enjoy Switch 2 gen more than Switch 1?

Yes 26 54.17%

I know it's early and that we're only two months into the Switch 2, but based on what we're seeing right now and your predictions based on that, do you think you'll end up ranking the Switch 2 higher than Switch 1 when all said and done?

In my opinion I think it's one of those things that's very similiar to the BOTW vs TOTK debate, yea TOTK might be just BOTW but objective better and more, but some people might prefer BOTW more just cause of that magic of experiencing that game for the first time while TOTK didn't give that same sense of surprise.

Some people might think the same with Switch 2, Switch 2 might just be objectively better in every way but might not give that same amazement Switch 1 did when it first released.

It seems like this time around Switch 2 will get more 3rd party support, and I don't think it'll run as poorly as some of the stuff we saw on Switch 1 since Switch 2 seems closer to its competitors in specs this time around. I could almost confidently say Switch 2 will nearly get all the 3rd party support with a few exceptions. While Switch 1 started to get good 3rd party support once it became clear it was a success, it definitely missed out on a good amount of current gen stuff, and the some of the stuff that did come over didn't perform the best. So I think that'll help Switch 2 have an advantage over Switch 1.

I think backwards compatibility with Switch 1 on Switch 2 is also another big advantage for Switch 2, Switch 1 already has an amazing library, the fact you can play it on Switch 2 at no additional cost to bring over (unlike the 60$ Wii U ports on Switch) is an amazing perk.

And just overall the Switch 2 feels premium and the hardware doesn't really leave much more to be desired tbh, the Joycons actually feels good and while still not the most comfortable thing ever, feels leagues better than Switch 1 and it's the best they could do while keeping that slim form factor. The specs are great for a portable, big nice 120hz screen. The only thing I could say needs improvement is battery life and Oled, but it still feels nearly perfect.

The Switch 1 left much to be desired from day 1, Joycons felt way too small, cheap, joy con drift, cheaper build quality and not the greatest specs even in 2017.

The big thing of course that had yet to be seen though is Nintendo's 1st party output for Switch 2 and if it could be better than Switch 1, since Nintendo games are the most important thing for any nintendo system. So far i'll say Nintendo's off to a great start with MKW and DK and other games like Prime 4 and Kirby Air Riders, but we'll need to see if it continues all generation which may be harder with more powerful hardware and the length it takes to make games nowadays, but certainly possible with Nintendo's experience. I think it will match or even exceed Switch 1's software output based on what we're seeing so far.

Is Nintendo going to be able to top Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder? Will it top the joy of the return of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door with a similar comeback for another game? I'm thinking no to all of those. And there were a lot of games I didn't even mention.
You also have to keep in mind games more or less across the board take longer to make year-on-year (and especially gen on gen) so it's likely we get 1-3 less big Nintendo games on Switch 2 than Switch.
And third-party exclusives or timed exclusives on Switch 2 will need to impress me since I have a PS5. If I didn't have other consoles, the amount of third-party games on Switch 2 that we'll probably get would excite me more.
And then there's the pricing. The console so far, I don't mind in that regard. But the controllers, games and such are getting more and more expensive.
I voted no, but I truly hope Switch 2 is even more awesome than Switch. Yeah, Switch 2 runs Switch games better too. But that alone isn't fair enough to make it a better gen. That would be like saying PS5's gen is automatically better than PS4's gen because it plays virtually every PS4 game and plays many of them with better performance.

Way too early to say.

It's certainly off to a strong start, with two first party greats right out of the gate, plus much stronger third party support than Switch 1's first year.

How well both will be sustained in the long term though remains to be seen.

Maybe had Nintendo not dropped MKWorld and DKBananza within the first two months, I would say not. However…they did drop MKWorld and DKBananza within the first two months. So, I’m voting yes. We haven’t even as much as seen 3D Mario nor 3D Zelda and this generation is already standing toe-to-toe with NSW. MKWorld is easily one of my favorite video games of all time, and DKBananza is really impressing me so far.

I doubt it. Switch was the perfect console for a specific moment of my life when I had to commute to college and work 5 days a week, and also a continuation of the IPs I grew playing in DS and 3DS. Nowadays I work at home

It was also a possibility to comeback to traditionally mainline console Nintendo games which I have abandoned in N64, since I hated their Wii iterations, missed Wii U almost completely and only have played few Game Cube games through emulation

Now I only play stationary, so PC and PS5 use 95% of my playtime. I will still get Switch 2 to play some games eventually, but I don't think it will ever replace PS5 as my main console

No. Because Game Key Cards.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Probably not. Im surprised how much I ended up loving the Switch. Might even beat the NES for me which I never thought any console would ever even come close to.

Maybe - it mostly depends on what next mainline Zelda is like, since Switch offerings were not much to my taste.

So far, MKW is mild disappointment and DKB is fine, but for me it gets repetitively pointless fairly quick if I play it longer than hour (on the flip side, my son really enjoys both).

Don't see why I should enjoy it more or less than the S1. The S2 is simply an natural iterative upgrade. The S2 is to the ps5 what the S1 was to the ps4. Both the S1 and S2 will have similar games.

Sure the S2 has a bigger screen that is 120 hz, which sounds great on paper, but in terms of quality that is the worse screen I've seen in a decade.

Overall I expect to enjoy to the same degree as the S1.

Edit

Lack of VRR docked is baffling.  And I don't like the price of games, way to expensive, especially when Nintendo never does price drops.  Odds are I will be buying far less games than I did on the S1.  Also I'll never buy game key cards, that is just stupid.

So far? No.

Medium term? Also no, nothing on the horizon grabs me yet.
I also just cannot come to terms with the e-waste Game key cards and that garbage screen which is an abomination.
There is a reason why I still reach towards my OLED over the Switch 2.

Long term? Who knows. Give me an OLED variant and some big hitting titles...
