I know it's early and that we're only two months into the Switch 2, but based on what we're seeing right now and your predictions based on that, do you think you'll end up ranking the Switch 2 higher than Switch 1 when all said and done?
In my opinion I think it's one of those things that's very similiar to the BOTW vs TOTK debate, yea TOTK might be just BOTW but objective better and more, but some people might prefer BOTW more just cause of that magic of experiencing that game for the first time while TOTK didn't give that same sense of surprise.
Some people might think the same with Switch 2, Switch 2 might just be objectively better in every way but might not give that same amazement Switch 1 did when it first released.
It seems like this time around Switch 2 will get more 3rd party support, and I don't think it'll run as poorly as some of the stuff we saw on Switch 1 since Switch 2 seems closer to its competitors in specs this time around. I could almost confidently say Switch 2 will nearly get all the 3rd party support with a few exceptions. While Switch 1 started to get good 3rd party support once it became clear it was a success, it definitely missed out on a good amount of current gen stuff, and the some of the stuff that did come over didn't perform the best. So I think that'll help Switch 2 have an advantage over Switch 1.
I think backwards compatibility with Switch 1 on Switch 2 is also another big advantage for Switch 2, Switch 1 already has an amazing library, the fact you can play it on Switch 2 at no additional cost to bring over (unlike the 60$ Wii U ports on Switch) is an amazing perk.
And just overall the Switch 2 feels premium and the hardware doesn't really leave much more to be desired tbh, the Joycons actually feels good and while still not the most comfortable thing ever, feels leagues better than Switch 1 and it's the best they could do while keeping that slim form factor. The specs are great for a portable, big nice 120hz screen. The only thing I could say needs improvement is battery life and Oled, but it still feels nearly perfect.
The Switch 1 left much to be desired from day 1, Joycons felt way too small, cheap, joy con drift, cheaper build quality and not the greatest specs even in 2017.
The big thing of course that had yet to be seen though is Nintendo's 1st party output for Switch 2 and if it could be better than Switch 1, since Nintendo games are the most important thing for any nintendo system. So far i'll say Nintendo's off to a great start with MKW and DK and other games like Prime 4 and Kirby Air Riders, but we'll need to see if it continues all generation which may be harder with more powerful hardware and the length it takes to make games nowadays, but certainly possible with Nintendo's experience. I think it will match or even exceed Switch 1's software output based on what we're seeing so far.
