Welcome to the 2018 Discussion Thread. This is the thread to discuss about all of our top 50 games, or even other games we love! But first, just some housekeeping:

• All discussion is to be posted in this thread. The Official Thread is only for posting our lists.
• I encourage everyone to ask questions and spark discussion. These are our favorite games of all time after all, and don't be shy to tell others why a certain game is so great... or to ask another user why his/her game made it on the list. The more discussion, the better!
• That said, please keep things civil and fun. There is no room in this thread for flaming others or trolling games/systems. Doing so will result in immediate moderation.
• You can follow the calendar on this post to know which day we're on.

You're welcome, but I'm definitely not the best

Since I have so many games that I really love, I made a top 100 list, and even then I had to leave off quite a few games that are really great.  Anyway here are the first few on my top 100.

100.  Final Fantasy (NES) - At one time this would have been in my top 2, but it just hasn't aged as well as a lot of other NES games.  I still like playing it though.
99.  Duck Hunt (NES) - My favorite light gun game.  It also is as important to gaming as Super Mario Bros, mostly because of how it helped Nintendo in Japan.
98.  Wizardry (NES/Apple II) - One of the first CRPG's.  Just making a party and taking it into a dungeon was so much fun.
97.  Mr. Do (Arcade) - This is just pure arcade fun from the 80's.  Like Dig Dug with but with its own flavor.
96.  Dragon's Lair (Arcade) - Released as an arcade game in the early 80's.  The graphics still look impressive today.
95.  Castlevania (NES) - This is the game that started a great series.  The game is simpler than later entries, but it's still very solid.  Most of the great Castlevania music in later games started here.
94.  Pool of Radiance (PC) - I want to actually lump in the whole series of Gold Box games that started with Pool of Radiance, (Curse of Azure Bonds, etc...).  All of these games were great.  I really wish they made more modern games with the same battle system as these gold box games.  The battles are so much fun!
93.  Marvel Super Heroes (Arcade) - A lot of these Capcom fighting games are similar to me, but this is the one I remember liking the best.
92.  Temple of Elemental Evil (PC) - This takes one of the best pen and paper modules ever made and puts it into computer form.  Also includes the fantastic "Village of Homlett" adventure.
91.  Flicky (Genesis) - Not sure if this was originally an arcade game, but it plays like one.  Feels like a very refined version of an early 80's game.

Also want to give honorable mentions to 3 games I played (and completed) this year: Dark Souls 3, Dragon Quest Builders, and Octopath Traveler.  I had a ton of fun with these three games, and yet they didn't quite make my top 100.  I would still recommend them to any RPG fan.

Meanwhile in Smash Bros ...

50. WipEout Pure (PSP)

The first of 4 WipEout games in my top 50. So yeah, I like WipEout. Fuck you Sony for killing Studio Liverpool and the series :)

Yay!

It starts again! I hope there’s going to be lots of stories of their favorite games from everyone for me to read, because I like to read. Here’s to another great Greatest Games Edition.

#50: Maybe I shouldn’t bother with this one, because Veknoid knows, but here goes; In this obscure granddaddy of shooter games, what’s just a tree in Europe is a futuristic steel pyramid in the US. If the boxarts are to be believed anyway because who knows.

You overachiever! Hmm, maybe I make a TOP 100 next year, so I don't have to leave off so many games.

I try to write up something for my games, so you have to read something.

And the first hint is so hard, I have no idea.

3DS-FC: 4511-1768-7903 (Mii-Name: Mnementh), Nintendo-Network-ID: Mnementh, Switch: SW-7706-3819-9381 (Mnementh)

Why you will not convince me I have chosen bad consoles. / awesome Miiverse art / my greatest games list

Bet with platformmaster918 and ethomaz about PS3 overtaking Wii in total sales.

Predictions: Switch / Switch / Switch / MHWorld / GOW > BOTW / Switch vs. XB1 in the US

Time for hints and stuff then?

#50 Stop watching. Start winning. Take control.
#49 Sean Bean is awesome!
#48 Sequel to a strategy game. But this time it's in China and there's maggggiiiiiic.
#47 Was the best game on a fairly short lived console.
#46 Obsidian > Bioware
#45 There's an Alligator in the sewer!
