Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games 2 and 3 on the Spyro Ignited Trilogy to be download/digital only

I’ll be the troll and joke maybe they wanted to have it be the same as a potential Switch version.

In reality, maybe they saw Crapcom has been getting away with it and thought they could give it a shot.

Maybe, but like I said, this situation isn't comparable to the Resident Evil: Revelations and Mega Man X Legacy Collections on the Switch. Cartridges cost a lot more to store data on them, but Blu-Rays? There's no excuse for pulling this shit with disc games, none.

I mean... is it really that bad? On PS4/One you have to install the full game anyways xD

In the case of digital games, you have to download AND install them IIRC, making it twice the pain in the ass. In any event, though, you're basically fucked if your internet isn't working for some reason or if you have no internet or really shit internet. It's also gone forever if the servers go down after any given number of years because remember, you don't actually own the things you buy digitally.

But yeah, fuck Activision.

Pathetic, needs to be a law that stops this. Crash had all 3 on disc this is rubbish

Ps. I can imagine you need the disc in for it to play, if it's digital then they should give codes that are on Thier own

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I feel at some point third party developers stopped caring about console space use.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

It doesn't look like anyone has given a legit reason why they would do this? Certainly they could fit on one disc? Or do Blu-Rays come in smaller capacity sizes that are cheaper? Either way, that's a major bummer, as it's inevitable that at some point the PSN download service for this game will be shut down, and people will be left with a disc that only plays the first one. It's like they don't even care.

Well, if they announce it for Switch and it is not all on the cartridge, they lost a purchase from me. I haven't bought the Mega Man collections either because I will not support this practice, which seems to be a new trend.

They probably didn't get the other games finished on time so instead of delaying it, they made the rest a download

lol. Look at everyone here making mountains out of molehills. Minecraft for the Vita's "physical release" was just a download code in a box. FFX/FFX-2's collection had FFX on cart, and FFX-2 for download. Bayonetta 2's free copy of Bayonetta was a download code on Switch.

This has been going on for years and years and years. But now we're supposed to throw up our arms because Activision has done the same thing that has been done probably dozens of other times? Meh. There are far bigger things to get upset over in the games industry.

i get why people are upset over this, but seriously, how much longer do you think physical releases will continue? internet speeds are becoming fast enough to handle the insane download sizes, digital games load faster, companies dont have to spend money on physical media. pretty soon there will just be too many variables to overlook when trying to justify physical media

Whataboutism at its very finest. Pointless statement given that a lot of the things you try to redirect towards had reasons behind them beyond "we want to just start putting this on disc now rather than wait for it to be finished"

As for the OP though, what's up with that last paragraph? starts with a dig at Switch titles and ends up at the N64 not getting games over using a cartridge, that's some strange tangent from "this X1/PS4 game requires 2 of the 3 games to be downloaded" do you think Nintendo had game downloads in mind when they went with the Cart format for the N64? I don't get the link here.

Gamestop has assured me that physical media and pop figures will exist long after the human race has died off.
