Yeah, man. The shortages happen.... because nintendo is so incompetent...I meant because nintendo has a hard time predicting demand.... that they haven't figured out how to not have to shortages since the NES.

There's no way nintendo is using scarcity marketing to help sell their products..... even though they do timed sales, limited run products, limited special editions of products, had repeated shortages over a wide range of their products and...... turned digital DLC (no shortages because it's digital) into toy-like figurines that give you access to exclusive DLC which.... somehow had shortages all the time.

How could I not see Nintendos evilness! You enlightened me!! Let's protect us together from Nintendos wrongdoings!!!

Who said anything about evil? It's a common business practice but somebody doesn't want to accept that nintendo does it too. Let me ask you question, does nintendo do any sales for a limited time or special edition products?

People complaining on social media... what a surprise.

Wake me up when that translates into the real world.

LOL, you're so cute. I'm fully aware that Nintendo is a greedy company like any other company. But let merephrase my initial statement for you to understand: Shortages are BAD for business. Any conclusion about "artificial shortage" to "drive demand" are hilarious, because some people really believe that works? Sure, two or three people might be enticed by a product that is out of stock, but what do you do with this increased demand - because you have no stock, you know. On the same day you lose thousands, alone by casual pickups by people seeing the thing in the store and get it because ... why not. You anger people who did want it. You lose people because over time they move on and lose interest. But sure, "artificial shortage" is for business. Logical thinking isn't your strong suit, is it?

The only thing I do think could be a bit of an issue for Nintendo in Japan this holiday is for *Japanese* tastes, their lineup is not that strong.

Mario Odyessy is a Sunshine style open world Mario and Japan tends to not really go crazy for those. Xenoblade should do OK but it's not really a big selling IP there. Fire Emblem Warriors is OK. Beyond that there's not a ton.

Splatoon 2 is likely going to have to do a lot of the heavy lifting right through the year, which it probably can pull off, but it's not ideal.

I wonder where Dragon Quest XI Switch Edition is, that would help even though it'll be an old port at this rate unfortunately. Things like Skyrim, Rocket League, NBA 2K, and FIFA may help in the US, but these are not big in Japan.

So not making hay in Japan with lots of units during this early period was ill-advised. Maybe Dragon Quest Builders 2 could help? But I don't think S-E gave a date on that.

Your arugments would maybe had some sense if demand for Swtich is meet, but we know that demand isnt nearly meet for Switch in Japan and that demand will be much bigger for holiday season in any case, and in holiday season Switch will have Zelda BotW, MK8D, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Monster Hunter XX, Pokemon Tournament DX, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario Odyssey, probably Xenoblade 2...so Nintendo will sell evre Switch unit they can ship in Japan in any case.

I remember someone dying for holding their piss so long and not urinating in a chance to win a Wii through a radio contest competition. The radio station was sued and had to pay decent amount of money.  This will discourage temp sales maybe but the shit will just keep on rolling.  Production just needs to be optimized.

Its just a kneejerk reaction because of the anger and disappointment of not being able to obtain one. Pokémon will change their minds.

I really wonder as to why anyone would be frustrated and overreact in such a way. It's a game system. It's a luxury. Unless you have absolutely nothing else going on in your life, you can wait.

Because some people several times waiting in lines and didn't had much to get lottery ticket for buying Switch, so if they relly want Switch but dont want to pay $100+ above ofical price, it can be frustrated and of course you will always have some people that overreact.

Thing is, there isn't an alternative ... and even if one is being developed, it won't be out for a long time. People can throw a fit but it's not going to affect lifetime sales much at all.

Lol, I remember when Switch was "revealed" at the January conference there was the guy with that Roadhog avatar who kept saying "Guys, i'm telling ya! My friend in Japan is saying that the Japanese are laughing at the Switch! They think it's a joke!"

Eh, it's not like Europe is overshiped, actually even if supply is much better in Europe compared to Japan and US, Europe still dont have regular availability in most markets. So if they do that soon we would had shortages in Europe also.

After Wii U failed where they overproduced and overshiped Wii U units, and because that later they didnt could have Wii U price cut if they didnt want to selling it at huge loss, of course they will be more cautious with their predictions. If we talk about their main products, last few generation they had shortages only with Wii and Switch, and both were selling better than was expected.

They had repeated shortages with the variations of 3DS , amiibos and mini NES/NES classic.

The fact that they turned digital DLC (unlimited supply) into collectable figurines that have a very limited supply is proof enough that they use scarcity marketing to sell their products. The whole point of it is to create a craze or strong demand by making a product seem more scarce to the consumer. The trick to it is controlled scarcity.

Nintendo will likely sell all of the NS stock they're withholding throughout the year during the holidays/black friday. It will get people more hungry for it by teasing them throughout the year. They don't lose any sells because anyone who really wants it will buy it whenever they can and those resellers will buy any stock they can to resell. Some people might get mad at the shortages but they'll still buy it sooner or later if they were looking for one in the first place.

It's a win win for nintendo. You and some of other blind ones are attributing a negative tone like "nintendo is evil" or "nintendo is being greedy" to my posts about this when there's no tone of that sort to my posts. If i'm anything I'm saying that nintendo is being smart by doing this.

Logical thinking isn't my strong suit, huh? Got any more jabs for me? You guys get so emotional over this shit.
