Forums - Sports Discussion - Should athletes in any sport be permanently banned for doping?

Tagged games:

Yes. it's an insult to what a sport is about. Pushing your natural physical and mental limits in a competition. Should we allow people who cheat at video games to continue playing online cheating other people out of their hard work? No. Ban them for life. As far as I am concerned no one has hit more than 61 home runs in a single season in the MLB. No one.

Athletes should be allowed to take any substances they want. That's really the only solution to this problem. It is their job to try and get an advantage over their competitors. So, they're going to always be pushing the bounds of when and what substances are allowed to take. Just let them all take whatever they want, and then it will all be fair competition.

i would simply suggest 2 "leagues" or "groups". doping and legit... this way they can inject whatever they want, and people can decide which group to follow.

i would start with biking.

if a legit sportsman is caught doping, he will be transferred in the other group for life.

easy, legal, fair.

people decide what they wanna watch live or on tv.

They should be permabanned IMO. Cheat once, you don't deserve to play again

Then there wouldn't be enough athletes to compete.

Well, there would just the people that don't want to take drugs, just times, distances and such alike might be less.

That is a reference I had to look up. Guessing the 3 people above Roger Maris are all on the naughty side of things? Even with evidence, did they keep their scores?

Some might argue, we already had that. :P

Hmm, pie.

Then why stop at doping? Surely it would be much more efficient to use e-bikes for the Tour de France, platform shoes for high jumping and brass knuckels for boxing.

No since the lines between 'doping' and 'genetic enhancements' are going to blur in the future ...

Should just hold two different competitions, one for the pure and the other for cheaters ...

If you will alow doping the difference between countries and teams with money would be even greater than countries and teams without a budget to build a special doping lab. If you legalise all doping every USA and Russia sporter will have better doping than other countrie. As for biking Team Sky would be even more invincible with doping than without.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Yes

There should be an additional "enhanced" division. Let them destroy their bodies to be the fastest, strongest, highest. But their scores are kept separate to regular athletes.
