Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Year 1 - Week 52 - Global Switch Sales vs WiiU/XboxOne/3DS/PS4

Next week is 3DS pricecut if I see that right. Switch has now a big gap created, let's see how much 3DS can close it. It looks as Switch might be able to sell on the same level as 3DS, after pricecut-crazyness is over.

Wow Wii u fell off FAST

Why are you surprised? XD

I don't know haha, I knew wii u flopped but for some reason I thought it sold (somewhat) alright for a while before completely dropping off. I mean it was selling 30k a week only 24 weeks after launch with all regions taken into account, that is atrocious. But yeah I guess I was ignorant as to just how bad the situation was.

Where do people see switch is closing the gap fasr against ps4?

Or do they only mean this year?

Closing the gap means gaining ground, no matter how small it is.

Expecting it to beat a console that had very few instances of supply constraint is kind of ridiculous to begin with ...

Launch aligned (as is the data in this thread). But for this I still see no indication. If Switch can now sell on PS4-level (launch aligned), even then the gap is not shrinking but staying stable. So, let's see and wait how it develops with the holidays.

You don't understand and you clearly didn't look up the numbers in the OP. It has been 4 weeks that the Switch has been steadily gaining ground over the PS4, LAUNCHES ALIGNED. We are talking about how both are faring against each other if they had launched in the same timeframe. PS4 is entering summertime and is slowing down while Switch will be reaching Holidays soon. So no, it isn't ''losing badly''. That is literally not the definition of losing badly. Wii U is

See... the thing Switch is coming up to it's holiday season while PS4 already had it's. Although part of the PS4's second holiday season is included right at the end so it could easily keep back ahead once Switch hits January. But the answer to how many Switch units Nintendo will ship during the holiday season is rather unknown, they could stick to their forcast of 12.7 million shipped by the end of March 2018 or increase it like they did in the Switch's launch month.

But Switch closing the gap against PS4 in the future weeks only makes sense, it'd be quite bad if it didn't as it draws closer and closer to it's holiday season.
