Well the PS4 is available at the same if not, less price than the Switch right now. Add that to multiple 3rd party support and wider variety of games. Plus, I just didn't see the Switch sold that much without stole some of the PS4/XBO userbase unless the casuals is back.

Will Sony continue outselling Nintendo as a whole? Most likely.
Will they surpass Nintendo in 3 years? No.
5 years? No.
10 years? Possibly, but only if this downward trend for Nintendo and upward trend for Sony continues.

Nintendo home consoles stand at 282 million to Sony's 398 million.
Nintendo has the majority of their hardware numbers made from handhelds. Meanwhile Sony has most of theirs from consoles.
Nintendo is definitely a more handheld company and that's fine. One company to dominate handhelds and one to dominate consoles. I love Nintendo consoles but their bread and butter has always been handheld.

Sony already ships more hardware than Nintendo. Hifi components, smartphones, headphones, tablets, TVs. batteries, cameras....

As long as each Playstation console hits 100 million and they make good money off of it, I'm sure they're pleased.
They ought to be because as a company they don't exactly have a ton of golden assets these days. Ain't nobody breaking down the doors to buy Sony TVs, smartphones, tablets, audio systems, etc.
It would take an insane amount of time to over that kind of ground when including handhelds
