Coming from someone who dislikes previous entries that felt outright lobotomized by J.J. Abrams, I came away quite impressed with this entry. Probably the only Star Trek movie worth seeing since...the Shatner days.

You didnt like first contact or generations?

Also many loved Into Darkness people!

Most of those people aren't Star Trek fans. Into Darkness was a failure as a Trek movie. Just to be clear, I'm not saying it was  bad movie. I'm saying it was a bad Star Trek movie.

Around the Network

I didn't watch it after they were being douchebags to George Takei and going against his wishes. So I won't watch it

Speaking as a Star Trek fan since my early teens, I completely agree with this statement. But, having said that, I really enjoyed Into Darkness as a movie. But I've compartmentalized the new reboot films as fluff films, not the dense subject matter we used to get in, say, DS9.

Beyond was really great, and I was really expecting to lump it with the last two movies as being "good, but not Star Trek." But this movie had a lot of great Star Trek elements, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Have not seen and I'm getting more and more reserved to see these "remakes" that only takes characters and names from old classics and put them in extreme action filled movies to make a buck. But I did enjoy the two earlier movies, not as Star Trek films, rather regular sci-fi movies.

This movie will likely take a huge loss as well so question is if they will continue with the franchise even though they have promised to do so?

I really enjoyed it. I agree that it deserved to do better. Actually, one of the top films of the summer in my book.

It seems the new Star trek movies are falling in the same trap as the old ones. Being for (new) Star Trek fans only.

Beyond may end the new reboot line though since the supposed money is not showing up.

I liked the first one myself. It was good. The second one was just bad and made no sense whatsoever.
I have no will to see the third one yet. We'll see if there is a fourth one.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I enjoyed the movie a lot, it certainly deserves better! Thank god they toned down the lens flares.

I will buy it on 4k ultra hd blu ray, when it's below €20

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

It does.

I liked it a lot, actually think it's the better one of the new Trek films. I don't get why it's IMDb score is the lowest of the three (8 to 7.8 to 7.4). It had loads of nods to older Star Trek films and series, it felt like a real Star Trek. If this is all because of the first trailer, then that really is a shame.

To listen to him, they would need to rewrite the script and hire a new actor. Sounds like alot of unecessary change. I think gay Sulu was fitting and Takei should be honored. I don't think it makes sense to try and guess what it was Gene rodenberry would think of it.

Anyways, on topic. It was funny how there were no lens flares this time! xD

I liked all the new Star trek movies. This one i guess felt more trecky, but it also felt more like filler. The first two felt more personal. Definitly worth watching.
