Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Telltale games says the Windows Store offers wider reach than Steam, will port full catalogue there.

But all of Steam's active users are on Steam specifically to play game. How many can be said for Windows?

This.

I'd also like to know how well their widening of audience is actually going. People going on the windows store to get the office suite are not magically going to buy telltale games just because they are there.

I guess broadening your horizon is a good thing, but microsofts attempts to gain control of the gaming space on PC disgust me, so I'm sort of dissaponited in studios jumping on it. Then again Telltale is on virtually anything, wich I always saw as a good thing before.

Windows Store has to come preinstalled because otherwise no one would download it.

Dont like it, dont use it.

No one likes it.  Thats the point.  Unfortunatly, I can't remove it from my computer... I tried to use it to find a calculator program once because like other here, my calculator stopped working when I upgraded to Windows 10.

The amount of people with Windows 10 does NOT equate how many people use Windows 10 for gaming. Silly, Telltales.

The funniest thing about this is that MS counts me as 3 "unique" W10 Users. I have 2 Laptops 1 came with Win 10 (my private one/had w10 for an amazing 2 days) and the other had a forced update that i undid via clonezilla backup. Then there is my Desktop at home...what can I say...forced update part 2. But yet again backup to windows 7.
EDIT: Don´t get me wrong. If you think the w10 store is a valid option for your game then by all means publish it. I mean I don´t game that much on PC anyway...

Yup...RO friggin rocked

You do not have to remove anything. Just do not use it. That is the point.

They aren't wrong, but that is going to piss off Steam and make them mad. Maybe they will work some more on their SteamOS, Vulcan, and everything else that comes with it.

Getting ready for the Half Life 3 launch. (Hopefully before the next Millennium.)

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

You google "steam" which takes you to store.steampowered.com
You click "install Steam"
Followed by "install steam now" - and you download an exe.

This isn't hard.

<snip>

So the argument of "it must be installed","must be found","is intimidating" etc all seem very, very strange to me.

I think you vastly over-estimate the computer literacy of the general public.  These are the people that Telltale could potentially sell to on Win 10.

I don't think they're saying that Win 10 store is going to outpace Steam in terms of revenue, just that Win 10 is going to get a lot more eyes on their game that would never even attempt to install Steam.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Windows store is shit lol.

I went on there and it's garbage. Pretty sure 90% of the people who have windows store(including I) probably downloaded 2 games and stopped from there.

Telltale games notes that while Steam was their starting place, it lacked the sheer breadth of reach, particularly to casual and first-time gamers, that the Windows Store and UWP could offer. In short, the port to UWP was a tactical move to allow Telltale to find additional ways to get their games in front of a larger audience of players.

Steam has around 125 million active users, but Windows 10 already has more than 300 million active users, with this number set to rapidly increase over the next 2 years to hit Microsoft’s 1 billion target.

Telltale games note that porting to UWP also came with free ARM support, and that they already have a build of their story engine that could be used for Lumia phones running Windows 10 as well as future Windows 10 devices.

So... 5 months have passed and I have some money to spend in my Xbox/W10-wallet.

Where are all these Telltale episodes we were promised?

Where is Batman? On Steam and GOG.com there are already 3 episodes out.

Where are any of the Seasons in the picture above?

The only Telltale games I could find in the Windows Store are "TWD: Michonne" and "Minecraft: Story Mode"... and of course they are much more expensive than in the other digital stores.
